Commander Griffin, Log 16I've been having the researchers training our men in some of the more advanced Alien Technology - not just the weaponry, but the navigation and computer systems as well. Maxclone has really taken a shine to it - something about Aliens having the coolest games. I try to ignore it when his lips are flapping, as I seldom like what comes out, but he seems capable at least.
We finally did it! It took all 10 avalanche missiles, but we took down one of the big ones! Just before heading off, a soldier came out of nowhere to deliver me a package, saying he'd be happy to come. As he ran away, I looked at the package oddly, then tossed it in the trash. THIS commander cannot be bribed into giving his soldiers cushy positions! No, for this audacity, I think I'd assign him as primary breacher. Call him Fragbait II. That'll show him, hah!
We arrived on the field, and I sent out our brand new prototype tank. Amazingly this time, it did NOT blow up before successfully leaving the vehicle, and actually served as a great scout. Lucky and Maxclone took out the two right outside the ship, and as the tank wandered around the map, every time it spotted an enemy, no matter how far away, Codec would place his weapon against his shoulder and take the thing down with pinpoint accuracy. I think the other snipers are getting jealous - I heard Banshee mutter something about a brown-nosing show-offy cockmunch who won't let anyone else get a shot in edgewise.
Regardless, after quickly clearing the field, we surrounded the door and prepared to breach. Just as we were ready to go inside, the doors opened on their own, and float came out looking quite surprised. Lucky then shot him in the face, and he looked even more surprised for about half a second before he mostly looked messy. A singly plasma bolt came from the darkness inside, striking and killing the newest Fragbait, but the others unloaded a few searing bolts of their own into the darkness and head a satisfying Wilheilm scream in response. The alien, however, was not dead! Oruzo lead the way into the ship, and stood shoulder to shoulder with the monster... who seemed unaware of his presence. The shot apparently dazed it at least. There was also one of the Reaper aliens a bit further in.
Maxclone and Oruza opened fire, with Maxclone killing both aliens and Oruza destroying valuable equipment and costing us a ton of money.
At this point, we split into two teams. I took Codec, Lucky, and Oruza through the door we'd just cleared, killing a Reaper of my own on the way, and Tarran led the other team and the tank to the far side of the ship through the other. As we were crawling through the smoke of the ships ruined interior, Lucky stopped me and gestured towards a rip in the ceiling. Through it, one could could faintly see the shapes of Reapers moving moving about. Lucky grinned, pulled a pin and tossed a grenade through the hole, sending Reaper blood dripping down on us. We heard a commotion up above, and I whispered "That was nice, but can you do one better? That explosion wasn't nearly big enough". She nodded and pulled out the heavy explosive I gave her, set the timer, and sent it up through the hole. We all took cover behind a nearby wall.
The explosion not only killed several enemies, but tore a large hole in the ship - and through it descended a floater, who quickly shot the tank that had arrived with Tarran's group. It seemed to be gloating in its victory over the device, and as it turned down the hallway heading towards Lucky. it was completely oblivious to me walking up behind it until felt the cold alloy of my rifle against the backup of its head. I stopped for just a moment, trying to think up something good to say, but nothing came to mind so I just melted its head.
Oruza came over the radio, saying he'd reached a door and was going to check it out - but Tarran's group quickly vetoed that, having spotted an alien lurking on the other side with his weapon trained on the door. After he'd been eliminated, we moved into the upper reaches of the ship, quickly fanning out and killing the remaining enemies. At one point, an armed alien walked through my group looking rather dazed. It didn't fire at us, and we were just so surprised at how brazen it was we didn't fire at it either. It opened a nearby door and floated through.
Oruza followed it and shot at it a bunch of times.
Codec managed to fall through a damaged section of the floor, but seemed otherwise alright, and Maxclone quickly found his way to the central computer.
"Shoot guys, look at this! This thing has video games!" I glared at him, and he sighed. "Okay, okay... I'll hop to it..." and he quickly pulled up some system logs and scanners. "Okay, there should still be one alien left we haven't seen - the ship is empty, so he's gotta be outside somewhere."
I had the men head outside, and Banshee quickly tracked down and slaughtered the last Reaper. She seemed upset that Codec had gotten so many more kills than her this mission, and pretty much killed that one reaper enough times to make up for it.
