Should Tony be using a rocket launcher?  With that Throwing accuracy i should have lots of grenades and a pistol for back-up...?

Besides that damn thing is heavy and it slows me down.

Running away is the smart way to attack.

Indeedy. Or anything else that explodes and is throwable, for that matter.

Like Tarran!

Name: Fragbait II
Position: Soldier
Role: Breacher
Gender: Either is fine, male preferred.
Weaponry: Best loadout for role.
Stat: Bravery.
He or she should arrive with a parcel which (s)he duct-tapes to the Commander's hand, the action accompanied with the explanation, "This was meant to reach you before the first MeatshieldTM unit arrived."

I think I'd better leave the rest up to you, Gryph. You don't have to include this, but I hope it's entertaining enough that you do.

What a terrible turn of events.  Rest in peace, toadboy.

Gryph: If you find someone you think can follow up such a warrior as Frog go ahead and name him Bullfrog.  I liked Frog's stats, so something similar would be fine as well as a similar equip loadout.

Haha, go Lucky! I thought for sure with that name she'd die first mission. Now she's gone 6 missions and killed 6 aliens, and took a blast of plasma with no damage. That's just awesome.

Considering her firing accuracy, I guess the stun rod is pretty useful.

She does need better grenades, though. She'll do better once we've got alien grenades to throw around.

A better pistol would be nice, but it sounds like she's doing pretty well with the one she's got for the moment. She'll need plasma or laser before we hit snakemen, though.

Everyone's doing pretty well so far, honestly. Though their survival is mostly through judicious use of mooks. :P

Lucky is the only one of my grenadiers to survive this long, (Hex was the newest one) but she's proven damn good at what she does, and made shots it isn't reasonable for her to make with her accuracy. She really is lucky, heh. And I really don't know how she took a blast of plasma to the face without getting hurt.

But yeah, definitely need better grenades, but I almost don't want to upgrade since that tends to destroy valuable equipment as well. Ah well.

New Poll Up

and anyone who posts for a "redo" of their character should definitely repeat what they wanted for dominant stats and role, because I certainly won't remember.

Update:
Woah, things are picking up. Just had a ship reduced to NO visible health before disengaging a large UFO (which proceeded to start a Terror Mission).
There's another even larger UFO roaming around England.

Still, gotta deal with the Terror mission for now - everyone is fully recovered, which means I'll be leading this trip personally - considering what happened to me during the last terror mission, this will probably end poorly for all of us.

Commander Griffin, Log 14
Heavy UFO activity the last couple of days. Feels like something might be up.

At least the recent meeting with the talking heads went well.

The eggheads have also figure out how we can use the alien plasma weapons. Apparently you just pull the trigger. Imagine that! I hope they get to work on those heavy plasma's soon, they look even more awesome.

They've also started questioning the live aliens we've been capturing, and we've found a little bit more information I don't care about. Come on, boys, give me something worthwhile, like discovering they have some sort of crazy allergy to water or something!

In even better news, it looks like I might be cleared for field duty again soon!

Commander Griffin, Log 15
I've finally recovered enough to go back out into the field, and just in time for an Alien Invasion! Wonderful!

I hope the men enjoyed their time serving under Tarran, but its time for the boss to take the reigns again. I've armed almost everyone with the new plasma rifle technology for this mission. The pistol people seemed somewhat unhappy, but I told them we are living in the future now, damn it, and in the future people use future weapons, not pitiful little pistols! The Rocket Launcher people got to keep their Rocket Launchers though, because any future without rocket launchers isn't one I want to live in.

Interesting note about these plasma weapons: Their clips are like a car battery, and the gun is like a car with the headlights on. As long as the battery isn't dead, we can recharge them back at base, but if we live the clips in for the flight they'll be fried by the time we get home.

We arrived at the terror site with a whole bunch of enemies nearby - Floaters and Reapers. This shouldn't be bad. There were a hell of a lot of them, though - enough that we didn't have time to lay down a smoke cover before entering combat. Some of the more expendable recruits moved out first, while our Snipers (Codec, Banshee and OneShot, the last being a new recruit himself) picked off those we could see from the ship.

One of the greens went down, the grenade he was about to throw injuring a few of our men. Lucky threw a grenade of her own before darting back into the ship, taking out one of the floaters. Before we could finish off the last one, though, he spun around and launched some sort of explosive at us. I thought for sure I was about to witness a massacre, but it only seemed to have stunned the men, not killed them. Only Sparky still stood outside, and he killed the remaining alien before finding cover under the ship.

The nearby aliens taken care of, we finally had time to put out a smokescreen.  One of the recruits saw an alien in a nearby park, and got a bit over-eager, rushing at him and firing wildly. Tony stepped out of the ship, sending a rocket over the recruits shoulder and into the floater's dome, but before the green could turn back, another alien stepped out of the nearby warehouse and gunned him down. It darted back inside for cover, and I responded by having Tony knock down the warehouse. A wall of it, anyways. The alien was nowhere to be seen inside. Probably hiding behind one of those boxes.

Well, better safe than sorry. I told Tarran to take out the boxes in case they were hiding an alien ambush, and he seemed happy to oblige. The alien was still nowhere to be found. Another alien popped up in the park, and managed to deliver a lethal blow to Sparky. Poor, poor bastard. Wasn't a pretty way to go.

Codec stepped up to the plate and avenged Sparky's death, and Banshee pushed past him, muttering "Showoff. You're supposed to kill them BEFORE they kill our guys. Like this", proceeding to gun down an unsuspecting floater as it turned a nearby corner.

Another floater kept darting out of another warehouse, so I had Tony take down that wall too... to reveal nothing. Damn, these things were getting tricky, and Tony complained that he was out of rockets. I opened up the special box and tossed him a couple of the big ones.

"This is taking too long. You think maybe you can be a bit more effective with this babies?" His eyes lit up and he nodded. "Good, now get back to work!"

I tossed a couple to Tarran as well. He said something about how I maybe shouldn't be throwing heavy explosives around. I considered putting him back on boot polishing duty if we lived through this.

The alien popped out of the warehouse yet again, but stayed out long enough this time to fire a shot at Tony. Tony responded by snapping off a rocket and destroying a light post. I'm honestly not too certain about his choice of targets, but what can you do? Codec and Lucky, who were preparing to break in through the back of a nearby building, responded with bullets and a grenade respectively. The bullets hit, the grenade blew up at its feet... and it remained standing, though it seemed dazed and neglected to fire back. Perhaps it could no longer see us through the smoke? Regardless, the thing had to go down, so I sighed and stepped forward. If you want something done right, you got to do it yourself.

A few shots from my rifle and the thing was done. Hah! That felt amazing. Man, these new weapons are nice. Come to think of it, that may have been my first confirmed kill...

Meanwhile...
Banshee: "Come on, lets go."
OneShot: "I still don't understand why we are spending out time shooting walls when everyone else is out there having a battle."
Banshee: "Look, its simple. We're going to get behind the aliens, and shoot them in the back while they are distracted."
OneShot: "Isn't that a bit... dishonorable?"
Banshee: "Your mother is dishonorable!"
OneShot: "That still doesn't explain why you dragged me along."
Banshee: "Simple, really. I need someone to go through the holes I shoot first and make sure it's not an ambush. Now get a move on!"
OneShot: "I'm liking this plan less and less the more I hear about it..."

Back to Log
Woah! Tony just fired a rocket right past my head... and into a charging Reaper. Phew, maybe standing out here in the middle of the street isn't the best idea...

Shit! Another one! Where the hell do these things keep coming from? I heard Tony yell that he was REALLY out of rockets this time, and Tarran yelled that if he fired from his angle he'd risk hitting me too. So... shoot or run? Shoot or run... Hell, what am I saying. Time to OPEN FIRE! Mwahahaha! Take that, you ugly monster!

Me and Tarran then worked our way down the street, killing Aliens as they popped up. I told Tony to go prep the weapons of the downed aliens for retrieval, and if he found one he knew how to use he could return to the fight.

Meanwhile...
Banshee: "Good, now from these windows we can see nearly the entire battlefield. It will be like shooting fish in a bucket! Ha!"
OneShot: "Hey, there's Commander Griffin shooting an alien! Now he's standing on the corpse waving at us."
Griffin, over the radio: "That's the last of 'em boys, bring it in!"
Banshee: "God damn it! Stupid Commander messing up my perfect plan with his suicidal rushes..."

Alloys are a MUST. Lucky might not get so lucky next time without personal armor.

Personally, I'd rather get Heavy Plasma first since that thing can break through Power Armor in one hit most of the time. I'd rather have our guys able to shoot back at the aliens and have around the same fighting chance that the aliens have. Seriously, those guns are extremely powerful.

After that, though, I'm all for Personal armor.

Not that I could see, no. I'll really need more troops (and thus more ships and bases) before the promotions start racking up.
