I haven't read this series, but I don't think I could stand thousands pages of what I've heard is a re-setting'd The Jungle.

lol wat.

Are you stoned? I could understand you saying it was a "re-setting'd War of the Roses", but what?
My point was that both this book and The Jungle seem to be endless series of deaths, accidents, and other misfortunes that lead the reader to believe that the author hates all of his characters.

I have no idea how this book relates to the houses of Lancaster or York, so I can't explain it that way. I've only done research on the war, not a book of that title.

Which has nothing to do with plot, really.

I've give you a clue. One of the major houses is called Lannister and the other is called Stark. They're both fighting over the throne etc etc. The differences start to spiral out of control by the third book, but eh.

I agree on the liking of Tyrion, i think he survives trough all of it because he's so savvy and badass and whatnot, and especially since he's a damn dorf :D

Other than him i do like Dany, Arya and Bran, but i have learned to like them cautiously after what happened to Drogo and Ned

Just finished the last book and...

WHY CAN YOU NOT DO A BOOK WITH A DECENT CONCLUSION GRRM?! Now I'm going to be angry and waiting for the next book for like twenty years or whatever. Fuck, man.

The entire book is leading up to a conclusion but it doesn't come, god damn it.

Like...

WHY?! Ending the book there was a dick move. One or two chapters on for each of those threads and I would've been ECSTATIC. But now we're just going to have a time skip for the start of the next book and it WILL NOT WORK.

There is no time skip. It is no longer a "thing". The events of this book will pick up in the next book instantly.

Though, it doesn't make it any less of a dick move. Though, it was more a dick move by his publishers, since the urged him not to make it as large as ASoS, and his page count came pretty fucking close. Not that he isn't to blame for not writing some resolutions in the time he was given, but oh well.

It's the same half-arsed thing of AFFC. This novel editorial scheme they have pulled out only results in the release of broken books, IMO.

Many people have raved about this, but I'm hesitant to ever pick it up, after reading that the author's motivation for creating the work is a horrendous misinterpretation of Tolkien.

I had not heard this.  Do tell?
