no caverns :/

hi guys, i've been trying to gen a world with no caverns at all, so i can make big forts

is there any way to do this?

Check the init.txt, set cavern levels to 0. Bam, no caves.

Might want to look a bit further into how to disable the circus, however, I don't know anything about that.

Just be aware that with no caverns in the entire world, you will have no access to any underground plants, either in your embark, traders, or locally findable.  You will need to make surface farms.

Note that no caverns means no cavern plants and thus no underground farming.
EDIT: Ninja'd. Also this means you cannot embark with ANY seeds, plants, or booze of any kind. Which can make things very challenging...

D: damn, is there anyway to change that? other than not mod caverns out :(

EDIT: is there any way to change the height of the world? so that i get really high flat parts?

Go to advanced world gen, and change the LEVELS_ABOVE_LAYER_1 to something bigger.

I hope you don't mind if I edge a question in here, I don't really want to start an new thread for it, and it's mostly related to this...
The last 2 embarks I picked, both joyous wilds, next to untamed wilds ocean, have their caverns start at 25, (As I set the parameters to) and then the caverns take up the next 80 layers. What is causing this, and how can I stop it? I don't want to have to dig that deep for magma.

maybe it's the:
[CAVE_MIN_SIZE:x]
[CAVE_MAX_SIZE:x]

try changing these to something different

It's fairly random, try embarking in an area with flatter terrain, or one far away from mountains and oceans and probably lakes.

Embark in an area with four soil layers marked. Each layer is one z-level, with the exception of sand deserts, where it's randomly one to four.

Yeah, it seems that all oceanic embarks have their magma sea 100 levels below ground.

Luckily I have a pretty epic way of getting the magma up. (Posting it here, if anyone cares)
First off, you need sand. Then, you need a straight staircase from the magma sea, all the way to the sand. You then carve out a nice magma glass forge, or 6, and get going. You'll need a lot of bags for this too, to hold all of the sand of course. You then turn the magma sea into a temporary glass factory, cranking out green glass blocks, green glass screws, and green glass pipe sections. Since all three pieces can be made without any resources (Just a trip up and down the stairs to get sand), the pieces accumulate quickly. Soon enough, you have enough stuff to make a bajillion screwpumps, and your pumpstack can begin!
