I'm working on the next update, but it is massively complicated. Any replies after this will be delayed until the update after.

Well, there are still a few control characters left, especially ones that cause special results (Programmers: \n, \t, \r, \\, \", \'..., only it's not \)

Secondly,
`~!@#$%^&*()_-+=
`~!@#$%^&*()_-+=
`~!@#$%^&*()_-+=
`~!@#$%^&*()_-+=
`~!@#$%^&*()_-+=
`~!@#$%^&*()_-+=

became a massive explosion of having to assign colours a purpose and drawing rays and bursts. I'll give everyone a hint, for those who are less perceptive: Backtick (`), and comma (,) are counter/clockwise 90° rotations in the text direction.

Also, the nature of this game is that the rules are made on the fly, but must be as consistant as possible, so although > and < both appear when they take effect, because I missed the first ^, ^ and V are invisible. Thus, there is some control code that overrides the visibility or lack thereof of other control codes.

And it makes this entire game repeatable, because no two sessions have the same meaning for each character. For example, if I started a copy on the MSPA fora, using a troll's chat colour would apply their typing quirk to the (alphanumeric part of their) text. Also, even though there are only 16 colours to use in the images, I just realized that the suggestion colours could have different meanings even when they map to entirely different board colours.

And if you want to see why this is taking so long, it's because I need to figure out an effect for purple:

Ugh, I need a bit of help. I still don't know what purple should do, so I cannot finish the third image, and therefore, I cant write the text of the update, and therefore I can't continue this adventure yet.

I had thought about it creating floors or walls, but that just seems too bland. Randomizing floors or walls would be too random, and hard to keep track of.

If you have any ideas for an effect that is somewhat balanced, somewhat easy to draw, and has little or no randomness, I would appreciate the inspiration.

How're the effects moving along, have you found them yet?
Also, what if they just outright cleared the square they're on?

You... Don't know WHAT just happened. No, wait, you do. A massive explosion of many types of magic just created an almost blinding chaotic... event..., and it managed to NOT hit you! Quite a relief, really. With that much going on at once, literally anything could have happened to you, and most likely it would have been a Very Bad Thing. There are stories of people attaining godhood from something like that (all false, though, as a little digging through the history section would easily confirm, but theoretically it could happen), but the only times anything like that has ever actually happened, the poor victim was usually left a mindless wreck, often mutated into a violent creature that was basically a blob of various animal parts, haphazardly thrown together. Not pretty. The few cases where it didn't happen, the survivor was changed, mentally. Sometimes they came out of it smarter than before, other times (actually, most times they survived), a total idiot. Once, someone survived and had acquired a form of weak telepathy, but he was driven insane from the sheer volume of thought around him.

Fortunately, a magical explosion like that will have depleted most of the energy in the area, so can't happen again, at least not for a while.
