(Also, the program I am using to make the updates can't recieve text from the keyboard as a shortcut to selecting a character (though I should add that sometime),, and can't copy from the clipboard, either. Furthermore, even if it could, it probably wouldn't work in arbitrary cardinal directions, so every character must be hand-placed (though it can flood-fill, great for erasing lasers and other large temporary effects.)

Suddenly, quite a few things happen! You see a massive burst of light from over the wall, and a few different types of energy beams off in the distance. You can make out Inversion, Water, and something Unknown!


For a brief moment, you recall yourself upon entering the cave that brought you here, except... You recall yourself advancing further into the cave. Odd, you don't think you did, or at least when you first arrived here, you didn't remember doing that...

Yes, this has a bit of a plot, now. As you, the players, discover more about the mechanics of the text, you, the character, will make observations and realizations. This adventure will culminate in one final puzzle that ties what you learn about the mechanics of this place to what you learn of the backstory and workings of the universe it takes place in, and upon solving the puzzle, the adventure will "end", but I'll try to keep updating, making this a purely sandbox style game. Until then, happy learning, and watch closely when the text changes direction or when a character you typed doesn't show up properly. It's a subtle hint that you are discovering some sort of control character. Also, newlines in your post do not equate to newlines on the game board, although you will eventually find a way to put newlines wherever you want, if you keep looking.

A massive wall of beams passes you, fortunately obstructed by a wall. A few pools of water instantly evaporate.

Afterwards, you find yourself contemplating your memory. It seems as if you forgot what specific events led you here, and it wasn't a magical effect upon entering the cave after all. At least, not entirely. If only you know what could trigger the rest of your memories of the event, whatever it was, to return...
