Drinking of the enemies it hews, the blood will cause it to rust, and eventually it itself will be blood red.

Praise be to armok.

Edit: Can blood cause things to rust?

The True Drinker. Truly a name befitting of a dwarven instrument of war.

Truely Awesome.

It shall strike fear in the eyes of the enemy

Who are you going to asign it to?

Real blood? It's mildly acidic. It'll actually eat into the metal and leave behind shallow brown-purple pits. (I have a few old knives that evidence this - deer hunting and suchlike.)
As for DF? I don't think we've got rust and other oxidizations as of yet.

Wheelbarrows with wheels are inferior to the true wheelbarrow.
you mean elves with loads of stone loaded onto their backs while walking on their hands with dwarves holding their legs to guide them?

Blood really has Iron in it. Why do you think it's red?

Only when anoxic, when in... uh, was it veins that return blood to the heart?. On contact with air, it immediately oxidizes and turns red.

Slightly off-topic... one of my Weaponsmiths just made an interesting Artifact: an Adamantine Upright Spike (a trap component) worth over 2.7 million Dwarf Bucks. It's decorated with an image of the God of Wealth. Presumably, it's intended for impaling poor people...
