Eeh... I wasn't really feeling this game. Usually, I'm delighted to be maffers. I'd spend ages staring at townie posts, trying to twist them together into something I can take advantage of. In this? I lurked; offered lazy, flimsy FoS's; gave pithy responses to attacks and was FoS'd by everyone in the end...

...why wasn't I dead by the end of day 1? I don't even get it.

It's pretty bad actually, I kind of just whipped it together last moment :-X

Yep, never have sympathy for someone just because they agree with you or say that you are town.

It's a form of buddying

which is actually a scumtell :P

And even if it's not buddying, the maffers KNOW that you're town so it's especially easy for them to find reasons why.

SO EVERYONE

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED

Wow, it was my first time and learning the game and being mafia at the time was a challenge.  I was fortunate I had Azure as my partner and I thought he was the star of the game and I was in along for the ride.  I thought IronyOwl, Toaster, and Argembarger were great teachers and I learned a lot.  I'm glad you had a good laugh Ottofar and thanks for the compliment Tyberix cause you had me worried from the beginning.

Well, I'll probably set up BM XX in a few days or something.

No! Wait! I'm in two games, but don't want to miss out on a BM, because I need more training.

Doesn't mean you can't do both. Or all three of them, in your case. Training never hurt anybody. Unless it did. Then it hurt them.

The first dozen or so comments on the scumchat are very insightful, and perhaps should be added to the Dakarian Guide for every newbie to read. Should be required reading for all BM games. Copied here for posterity:

[Stuff]

That is great stuff.
Hehehe, thanks.

Actually my first post after that was a genuine, if weak, attempt not to get lynched. Everything after that was genuine cynism though. I really need to cut down on that.

Does anyone know how how to reallocate skillpoints?
I tend to find taking responsibility for the situation helps, because it allows you to ignore the fact that everyone else is mucking around or screwing up. If you think to yourself "It's town's job to win," it's easy to go "Man, town screwed up, this sucks" when they lynch you (or make any mistake, really). If you think "It's my job to win," it doesn't really matter what everyone else is doing- it's still your job to work with/around it and win.

"They'll be sorry after the fact" is really pretty poisonous to getting anything done.

Oh god no. Mafia is not one of those games that you can do a lot of games at once; it's really easy to get bogged down, confused, or just blurred due to conflicting actions, statements, and so on. Even if you don't get outright confused, having the same person in both games or trying to keep track of two trains of developments can wreak havoc on your instinct.

BM games are certainly more lightweight than others, though, so it's a bit better than three normal games.

... I used to be in 8 games at a time and winning all of them, you know >_>

It is possible.  I don't recommend it for beginners.

Eh, last time you were scum I found you pretty easily...

What, in BYOT?  I'm not saying I'm a good player.  It's been nearly a year since my last completed game, after all.  But I cannot deny the way I used to play.

I don't play as much anymore because I became too aware of my own foibles =/  In the end, there is no way to completely hide yourself... I try one tactic, and I know how I would catch myself.  I try another, and find the same thing.  When I first started, I could easily say "No, we both know I am not scum because that is poor reasoning," but nowadays I am far too aware of the signs to say any such thing.

*sigh*

Yes, I know I play Mafia terribly nowadays.  I am very sorry for it.
