Now you can take rock nuts, for instance, mill them into a nut paste, then put them in a screw press to get oil (into a jug) and a press cake. Both of these can be cooked and the oil can also be made into soap. The press cake shouldn't be as yummy, probably, or maybe it should be restricted as animal feed, but currently it is just food. Jugs are currently anything but clay pretty much, and clay is the next step.

Is anyone else ridiculously excited about how this is going?  I know I am.

Rock nut oil; potential uses

• oil lamps/torches, if dorfs come to need light underground to see
• oils for making more complex soaps, beard shampoos
• cold or warm compresses - rock nut oil infused with herbs with medicinal properties, or used to make a poultice
• actual cooking of food now - deep friend fluffy wambler liver, anyone? - dip fluffy wambler liver chunks in cave wheat flour and well beaten dragon egg, fry in hot rock nut oil
• preserving food - some food may now go off even in stockpile unless preserved - with clay pots, we could have pots of vegetables preserved in oil
• rock nut butter

Any others?

Man, the potential expansions made possible from something as simple as this are soooo cool.  Let alone the fact that a rock nut press cake being potentially animal feed means ACTUAL FEEDING OF LIVESTOCK.

This is a stack of 4 well-prepared nut-oil fried elephant tallow roasts. The ingredients are well-minced donkey tallow, minced elephant tallow and well-minced elephant tallow, all deep-fried in nut-oil. The roast is carved to resemble a screaming elephant trampling a supplicating dwarf.

I wonder how Toady dealt with the livestock consuming more foods then the dorfs could make. As Toady said in a DF talk, that was the primary reason why animals didnt eat.
