Dwarf Mode cursor problem
« on: December 17, 2006, 10:52:00 am »

Occasionally the cursor will 'lock up' and simply keep moving in whatever direction you were scrolling.   When this happens, the behaviour is reproduced on every screen in-game.  You have to exit game to end the problem.  The problem does not reload if you load the save game.

Effect is not reproduced outside of game, so cursor is only locked for DF.

Problem found in every version I've played and tends to crop up once every couple of days.

I think this is some kind of keyboard bounce issue.  I've been able to fix it some of the time by figuring out which direction key is "locked" and striking it repeatedly until it stops.  Doesn't always work though.

This issue always resolves for me when I press alt+tab and go to a different window.

I'm not sure what causes this, since I'm not one for technical matters, but pressing the stuck key again always works for me.

This happens to me sometimes too.  I can usually fix it by hitting NumLock a couple of times.

The intruder arose, casting off its black cloak.  "Behold, stunted jesters!  It is I, Scuro!"  A jagged scar marked the goblin's face from eye to chin, his greasy mane gray and wild, and about his neck was the broken silver amulet, strapped together by a leather band.

I can almost always make this happen by resizing a bridge/channel/road/aquaduct while also scrolling the screen.

for example if im hitting 'k' while scrolling, it will stick the scroll and send me panning over the map.  hitting the scroll again will always unstick it.

this happened to me yesterday. I was attempting to scroll left after selecting "take from stock pile" and I fudged 7458 on the keypad at the same time :P

The cursor went into an uncontrollable gallop into the bottom left of the screen. I fixed it by alt-tabbing into something else  :)
