Low populations.
« on: January 12, 2011, 08:00:41 am »

I have a race of modded creatures that are incomprehensibly strong.

There are to many of them.

How do I set them to have REALLY low populations.

Pretty much nothing except the most badass of my modded dragons and some of the REALLY strong FB's and Demons can kill them, so they don't need to spawn anywhere near as much as they do.

They're both a civ and a Megabeast-Semi-Megabeast race (I put both the Semi and full Megabeast tags in, they're so strong it basically takes the place of bandits for them, one of these fuckers go rogue and it's the stuff of prayer and legend.) incase that's important.

Change their BABY tag. Change the START_GROUP_NUMBER and MAX_POP_NUMBER/MAX_SITE_POP_NUMBER in their entity entry (presuming those tags still do something now the pop rewrite's been and gone).

Better yet, make them entirely unable to reproduce.

or mod in a caste with some sort of invariably fatal genetic defect (such as having a body plan missing their BRAIN and/or LUNGS (and also missing any other body part with the THOUGHT or BREATHE token, respectively (and also assuming that they don't have the NOTHOUGHT or NOBREATHE traits)), or important tissues with very low melting points.

If you set them up as both a Civ and a Megabeast be warned that it may cause world-gen to run unusually long, as their population will replenish itself (however slowly), unlike normal megabeasts. it may also cause the history of your world to generate a large number of additional ages due to population fluctuations bringing you back above the megabeast cutoff point for the Age Of Legends into The Second Age of Myth and then fall back into The Second Age of Legends, and so on, in that manner.

I found this out when I tried to mod in a race of megabeasts based on the mythology created by the heavy-metal band GWAR. What I eventually wound up doing was treating them as two seperate creatures in the raws, one of which lacked the MEGABEAST tag, but gained the CAN_CIV tag.

This was in 40d, however, so the info I've just given you may be out of date.

They wipe out all the titans in world gen.

By themselves, and that's just the megabeast versions.

I was gonna fix that but I found it to funny to change.

They even get Forgotten Beast kills.
