My new sweet embark; pics inside i think it's pretty awsome
« on: January 12, 2011, 01:51:12 am »

Just wanted to share my embark; i can throw it online if anyone wants to play it too; it's just a normal gen (for any who didn't know I take great pride in making custom lands, that are super hard core difficult with super evil lands, mega beast in hundreds in small maps, ect.

i had a map like this. except it was upside down and animals kept jumping off cliffs trying to avoid arrows. and it was a good biome.

this place actually ended up just being a wilderness biome (i believe that's what it's called).  I like it cause my fortress will be surrounded by 2 rivers and a cliff, i will take out all the hills up to the cliff.

There are probably small waterfalls.  That is, unless the river is flowing northwards. :o

If you could post the save containing this map, I think I'd like to try it out.  I like its aesthetics, and like the idea of having an easlity secured above-ground location.

Important question though:  Does this map freeze in the winter?

I'm getting this crazy need to channel the separated river together at the south, flood it full and build an above-ground fort on that sweet little island in the middle.

Oh nice. It's a river delta, like at the end of the Mississippi. Let me guess, two levels of aquifer?

I'd love it if you could post the seed data for this one.  I am a huge fan of building River Island fortresses.

Have you got just the worldgen data? I'd like a map like this, but with my own mods attached.

btw, how deep is the map?

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I had three minor rivers dumping in a major river before via waterfall, it was entertaining to watch alligators give birth while straddling the thin line between the lethal fall and the river and have their alligator babies fall down the waterfall and die.

I've noticed this happen alot with the default world gen. I see it quite often since I usually go looking for sheer cliffs to build in. My current massive fort has its dining hall build around a natural 20z level waterfall from a brook.

Every time I seem to embark upon a site with 2 rivers converging I get something like the above.

Just curious here. How did you build the dining hall around the waterfall? Just constructing a ton of walls and floors? Did the waterfall occur underground or something?

You must build a castle on that. Then post it. This is beautiful.
