So basically I'm asking if they have changed how combat works at all for guardsmen because I was really very impressed with dow2.

I don't know, I haven't been able to get the demo yet.
Does Steam let me download it, or am I just out of luck because I didn't register on some forum, even though I have all of the Dawn of War games.
I preordered on the 31st, and the demo for preorders came out yesterday, so why can't I use it?

Anybody has some tips/wants to play with me in TLS? using a chaos sorc, currently level 4 and with pubbies I get consistently obliterated by wave 9 massive swarms of warp spiders that never let me get close enough to doomblast and always dodge warpfire and when they don't kill me with a single massive volley, the giant swarm of banshees will. My only success against them is by doppelgangering them, which isn't nearly enough.

Beta feedback, 4 matches in so far: Matchmaking nonfunctional, custom matches end with 60, 60, 60 on their side with me and other lvl 1 on ours and inevitably at least 1 lagger or afk. Then the assholes start bragging about beating us.

The Last Stand isn't a part of this beta. The Lord General is the new hero, and there's a new map which is harder than the first one.

I have to say, the Baneblade seems rather more impressive in this DoW than it did the previous one.

That's because the IG in DoW were horribly underpowered in every way.

I do miss my eleven barrels of hell and basilisks though.

With the Tabletop Roundup mod they actually got a little bit scary. The Hydra murdered anything that wasn't heavy armor.

As for DoW2, I like the feel of the IG. Difficult to take ground, easy to hold it. It's certainly going to take some getting used to, though; my primary wotcha in Chaos Rising is Eldar, and they're fragile in different ways.

As a Homeworld fan Relic's continued focus on the Dawn of War franchise makes me a sad panda.  But I suppose they have to do whatever is most profitable.
