There is a difference between being a police officer and a firefighter and willing to go into a place where there are mines and bombs may or may not be falling.Also police and firefighters have to deal with less automatic weapons, and don't have the same risk of being killed while training for their job(which does sometimes happen in the military).

I have to disagree about this. If the nazis took over Europe or we let Japs keep expanding, they would've came over here and made us all slaves. Would Hitler or -whoever that Jap emperor's name was- would've stopped at America? Hell no! The Japaness made this point when they attack Pearl Habor.

The war of 1812 is another example. England invaded us and took the fricken Captial. If they won a whole lot more then they did, who's control would we be under? ENGLAND!

So while the current war may not be about protecting us, they have protected us in the past. So show some respect for our Veterans dude!
