Down here in the south, we're loving the snow.

How come you get loads of snow in the US? In Britain we just get a few days of snow then really cold rain/hailstone  :-\.

Well, that stinks. I have a friend in NYC still feeling the effects of twenty inches of snow, four days ago. It's just been a really snowy winter, I guess. It's better than some years where we got basically none. Is Britain normally affected by this curse?

EDIT: oh and
Because America is better.
"my large piece of rock is better than your large piece of rock"
No need for that, even if it was meant in jest.

We got a decent amount this year and last year, but it's all gone by now. I think it gets too cold for the snow or something. The trouble with snow here is that it for some reason causes nationwide chaos when we have it for more than a day, whereas countries such as Germany and France are well equipped to deal with it and are fine.

200 years? Where I live it was the first in 30.
The white definitely made the Christmas, regardless.
Today we got an addition two inches of snow on top of eight from yesterday. And my favorite coffee shop is open when none of the others are. They're smart.

This I have heard about Germany. Gotta visit them Germans on my next trip to the UK, even if I can't understand their awesome language.
On-topic: never heard about "too cold for snow", but I guess it's as possible as snow when the weathermen predicted sunshine the previous day. Which is to say, very plausible.

I'm in Halifax (near the east tip of Canada) and we've barely had any snow. Our first snowfall that wasn't gone the next morning happened like three days ago.

We had about 30-70cm of snow and a refreshing -28C last week, had to go remove the snow from the roof when it suddenly changed to around 0 and started to melt. Risk of water starting to leak through the roof and pedestrians crushed by the snow falling from the roof  :)

Really? Up here in Scandinavia we were hit pretty badly as well (as I mentioned before in the Happy thread I think, we even had to get some good old locomotives from a museum because not of the new ones could handle the plowing). It's been getting a bit less cold lately though, so now every thing's covered in ice instead, but I heard it's gonna get even warmer (which I guess will mean a consistent above 0 temperature) so the fun might soon be over for everyone over here.

Oh, and I also totally agree with the OP. Cold and snow and winter is great, though I always feel bad about the birds and animals. Thaw is not, however. Hate it.

Man, for a moment there I thought you were Quebec-ian. Then I was disappointed. :(

One of the awesome things about winter is it being pitch black even at 7:30 in the morning. It makes mornings feel fun.

Here in Upstate New York we haven't gotten too much snow yet...  But it's cold.   And I hate the cold.

The snow could, theoretically, be fun.  But it has to be cold to get snow.  And I really hate the cold.

Can't wait for spring...

Things have actually been warming up down south. Then again, Florida doesn't have a Winter season. It's seasons are Cold, Warm, Hot, and Wet.
