I'm thinking something explosive. An oil of some sort, maybe? I'd dump bars of zinc in there and get an instant death chamber.

Having to dig plumbing for sewage would lead to all kinds of fun.

Petroleum. A big moat of it, and maybe "water"falls of it and other neat stuff.

And then I set it on fire.

It will !!burn!! and I will be pleased.

If it runs out it shall be refueled. I shall spot a nice location with endless supplies of it (like aDF-World Arabian Peninsula) and burn every single drop within my fortress' lifetime. I want that crazy big wall of fire surrounding my fortress !

Make a moat with a hollow outer wall, and fill the "insulation" with lava. This was, the moat stays hot.

Make sure the moat is empty.

Whenever a siege comes, throw all the bodies, equipment and prisoners into the moat. Let them melt.

A few years later, you'll have a molten moat of goblinite.

If something such as amber can be poured onto enemies and make neat statues, I'm in for that.

If not, then molten metal shall give me this

Hmmm. As magma is a semi-liquid, could a few thousand mutilated corpses be called liquid too?

The granularity would be too high on the scale of a normal-sized moat. Maybe if you ground them up first. I mean, sand isn't a liquid, but grains of sand are still tiny. So if body parts are the "grains" of sand, you'd have to have sky-high piles of bodies before it would start acting remotely like a fluid.

Hmm.
Aren't venoms only effective if injected into the bloodstream? (in RL, I mean)
