That would be nice, except for the most part the other races would be using it to come trade with us. If it got big and useful enough to be a standard method of transportation, yeah.

No idea. If anything we just need a little amount of training due to kobolds and a palisade or something. Once we get the big wall up we just need crossbows. Also the trade thing (Way near the beginning the underclerk talked about how it would be useful to carve a path into the cliff or something. Perhaps we can get a toll from that?

I'm sure it wouldn't be feasible, but an underground tunnel leading somewhere so caravans don't have to travel above ground would be absolutely awesome.

I posted a map in the main thread, I kinda don't want to just willy nilly mine into the mountain and make it look like shit and destabilize parts of it we might need for later expansion.

I figure I might as well not deal with pre-packaged deals, but give Litast's opinion on each major issue...

Government

First on her list only because she strongly believes that government should have no actual power over the dwarves. The dwarves have complete control over the government, and all government activities are to be entirely public. She knows many governments have become corrupt, and realizes that laws will have to be placed in order to limit power to any one grouping of dwarves.

Litast is also open in stating that she will step down as leader if the majority of dwarves wish for her to no longer hold the position. Otherwise, she feels she can handle the position well.

Education

Education is what gives dwarves the knowledge of what mistakes have been made before, and how to avoid repeating them. Education also bring all dwarves up to date on the current technologies, and gives them the opportunity to learn more about each. Education is the backbone of any society, and thus Litast believes education to be of utmost importance.

She has come to the conclusion that (once we have the capacity) education should be free to all those who wish to learn more about their world. Though, it will not be a requirement, for she thinks those that valuable time should not be spent on those who simply do not wish to learn.

Foreign Relations

Litast believes firmly in a 'Tit for tat' methodology. A friendly, yet cautious hand will reach out to each foreign entity the fortress encounters. The fortress would remain friendly as long as the other entity does not defect from a mutual peace. This mentality is also forgiving, should the entity decide to end its war.

Military

In most traditional societies, the military is (quite literally) the sword and shield of the government. Litast knows that the military will be necessary in order to both defend the fortress, and give weight to threats.

She thinks a good military would be one dedicated 75% to defense, and the rest to be kept as an insurance should the need arise for them to attack. The actual specifics will probably be put in the hands of the people, as problems will most likely be situational.

Immigration

Doors will be open to any dwarf or other sentient being with known motives. If overpopulation happens to become a problem, the doors will be closed to those seeking a new home, but remain open for those seeking a temporary solace.

These are very general stances, and her views will likely change as certain situations arise.
