The only time my village was backstabbed it was a B12 guy, so yeah, watch out for supercharazad.
I can second this actually, matter of fact I think he might be an incarnation of dodoe on the HnH forums who is a massive troll.

Oh, hey Talvara, long time no see. I'm not sure, I haven't played in over the year and I kinda plan to stick with Salem now because of updates.

I can totally respect that, The lack of development on HnH has been the main thing keeping me away. it felt just too broken for me with no prospect of things getting better any time soon.
The bugs that are going to be fixed for world 7 is at least a little encouraging though.

I'm tempted to give this game a proper try, now.

When exactly is world 7 supposed to come out?

And how long will it be before people start making the, long claimed areas to piss off people? Because when I played first time, my exploration was severely hampered by some claimed area that kept going and going and going and going...

from what I've read its going to be sunday > monday this weekend (swedish time), If its any help one of the things that is going to be changed is that Claimspikes who'se owner hasnt logged in for a month are able to be knocked down.

It's probably going to be a while before people have the LP to throw into ginormous claims in any case. They'll probably be less generally prevalent for a while, too, and as Talvara noted will no longer be an absolute permanent problem.

It's nice to see some old faces (I was Owen Quillion in World 1, and a few people may remember Alyssa Xenos from Andoran in World 3 although that was kind of a flop because my computer gave out and I disappeared). I'm gonna give World 7 a decent swing in any case, for old time's sake, and if jorb and loftar pay a little more (well, any) attention to it I might actually stick around for a while.

I normally floated around the outskirts of Bottleneck, but since that's probably not coming back... I'm not sure if I'm going to throw in with a/the B12 group or hermit it at this point. If we've got enough folks to give this a go we need someone to pick a place and pick a hearth secret before Monday. (And it occurs to me that the old trick of 'spawn alts until you find a good soil/clay/whatever node' won't work now that Survival hardcaps dirt and clay).

EDIT:

had meant to say this is a bit inconveniently timed for me because I'm helping family move all of Sunday, and if j&l get it done anytime near when they said it'll be in the evening Sunday for most Americans, I think.

Hey, at the beginning we don't have to worry about Russian guys with battleaxes raiding us.

This will be my first map wipe. At the start people spawn anywhere around the full map? Or the spawn zones are near each other? I must admit it's a shame this is happening just when I have established a proper settlement... but I guess I can do it again.

I suppose the first days I will wander around, getting exploration, survival, intelligence and perception (but perc would be hard as a nomad...)

The way you spawn in H&H is either you go up the ladder in the spawn room, which puts you at random coordinates, or you use someone's hearth secret, and you spawn by their hearthfire. The procedure for starting a world as a group is generally that somebody spawns up the ladder and everybody else in the group uses their hearth secret. It does occur to me that it'd be beneficial to try and start in an area that's near the border of the two forest types so we have access to all the different tree types for curios and/or fishing lures.

EDIT:

I don't think it's been the same with every wipe, but I'm pretty sure at least one world started as a 3x3 set of super grids, so everybody did technically start closer. I think the map size has been 5x5 for the last few and stayed there.

Anyway, evidently I've wrangled up a group of non-B12 friends. I wouldn't want to drag them all into a B12 village proper, but I would like to be neighbors/trading partners with any group that does get started. It seems to me that usually the best way to handle Haven is to try and get to know your whole supergrid, gently encourage the good folks and try to give the malcontents the cold shoulder (or stab them if it comes to that).

As to the earlier charges laid against the character of Kilakan and the friends he brought, I would like to put a word in for his defense. I believe it was World 5, might have been 4 though, where DJ authorized me to make a recruitment village to shore up our dwindling numbers. Kilakan and the people he brought were polite, helpful, competent, and terrible at pampering me  :P. Thanks to DJ, I was well beyond them in the quality curve, but not once was theft an issue. I could leave all my stuff in an unclaimed chest when I logged off, and if anything was gone when I logged back on, it was something that a player had already asked to borrow, and was returned promptly. As to the charges laid against the character of Supercharazard... my bad. I personally recruited him at the same time as Kilakan, and lost track of him when we set up the recruitment village. I can't say why he did the things he did, but I should have been present to stop him and redirect him.

Hehehe thanks sonerohi xd, and yeah I'm definitely in for being part of any potential BN restart especially with so many old faces showing interest.  ((I was in Andoran but was an utter noob at the time and don't think I accomplished much at all.... I remember farming a lot of flax and someone helping me get LP by having me ping bears with my sling for 5 damage for an hour before they oneshot the rest of the bear.... It was a lot of fun haha))  Oh and someone in Andoran conviced me once that they had killed dragons and that is where dhelms came from... I believed them wholely.

Also I pledge to bring or not bring any freinds you may or may not want in, for the record my closest friend in HnH loves dwarf fortress and is incredibly honorable but a bit of a dick verbally, though he'd never troll you by doing anything to your character or items other than snarky comments.

*sigh* I am a bit of a dick, the problem was that they were so far ahead of everyone else, it kinda wrecked the balance. That wont be such a big deal.

I will be starting up a Brodgar settlement this world too if anybody is interested.

Will aim to have a central keep with vidol/park/trade stalls, everything else outside the keep divided into 25x25 personal plots.

Even if you just want to be a hermit/independent settlement you can start up in Brodgar, get yourself a plot together to be a kind of in-town plot set up, then once the vidol is up and you are authed, make a larger farm somewhere else a bit out of town (i.e. 10 minutes walk). You can sell trade goods in stalls inside the keep.

I'll put up more info when it is available.

So are we having a large Bay 12 settlement or multiple smaller ones that trade?  Yeah, kilakan was giving out some really nice curios but I think migrating again really ended it

Yeah I definitely understood that part, as for a bay12 only village... I don't see it happening easily, since the early worlds we always tend to get people who bring someone really immature that they dont know but claim they do in
and shit gets fucked.   Though I might have my secondary dude in brodgar or with you guys, no sure myself so far.
