So, back to my original question. Does anybody know any similar games? Roma Victor is dead. :(

Hm.. There aren't too many games in this genre.. HnH is probably my favorite survival game out atm.

Other games are:

A Tale in the Desert V: mmo focused completely around crafting, no pvp. But the crafting is pretty in-depth. I've never tried it, though, because last time I checked it was P2P

Wurm Online: It looks to be pretty similar to H&H, but 3D, more customization available in crafting, and P2P. Again, I've never tried it so can't really give an opinion.

Xyson: Post-apocalyptic crafting/terraforming survival mmo with some pvp. I've never played this one either. It's P2P

LOVE: This is much different, and isn't as much of a survival game as the others.. However, you do build bases, and in general it's an interesting game to play/look at. That being said, I haven't played it in several months, and haven't heard about it either, so it might not be out any more.

Terraria: Hardly mmo, but there's some similarities. Big thread here about it.

Unreal online: Not mmo at all, but a great survival game.

That's all I can really think of atm.

Under the old system, "pointless grinding" meant chopping down trees and building tons of buckets, leaving dozens of stumps behind, and getting lots of LP. In the new system, tasks like farming, carpentry, tanning, and cooking are the closest thing to "pointless grinding" in the sense you aren't getting more curios (LP) while you do them.

But all those jobs improve the infrastructure of your town, which in turn creates more curios. In the old system, a thriving town only gave you better stats and equipment. Now a thriving town gives you better stats, equipment, and skills. Whereas the old system rewarded bots and mindless grinding, the new system is far more rewarding to smart play and teamwork. The game is still a huge grind though.

As a side effect, curios are a great form of currency, so hard working low tech towns can more easily trade for high tech tools.

Hey, just to let you guys know, me, Eek-a-Mouse and a friend of his are creating a B12 village. Well, we actually are still more of a camp being devloped into a village, since we don't have any farms yet, so we are looking for some people to come help us out in first building some houses and then working on getting farms up.

If you wanna join up, please be serious and help out. We can have some fun here and there, but we still have to thrive at the same time.

I like the sound of the new LP system, and would like to drop back in on this game.
Any B12 town offering up spaces, feel free to drop my a line with your hearth password or whatever and I'll spawn there.

My name will probably be Detrevni, or some derivative thereof.

We're hardly a town yet, but as Hit said, any Bay12er that is interested in helping out is welcome. Recently we've just been working on setting up a camp and exploring around our area. We have pumpkin, flax, hemp, wheat, grape, carrot, onion, and tobacco seeds (none planted yet, as we're waiting for full nature+plus a little bit more development of our area.

We have access to a q23 clay node, as well as a q47-51 water node. We live in a small river system, so there aren't any big powerhouses right at our doorstep-- everyone I've come across while exploring seems pretty new.

If anyone would like to join us, send me or Hit a pm, and we'll give you our hearthsecret.

And yeah, I think I'm liking this LP system too. In the last few worlds, pretty much all my H&H time would be taken up by hours upon hours of hunting animals for LP. This way, I find curios pretty much wherever I go, and therefore can focus on more important things.

Any not-so-obvious tips?

The LP system got a massive overhaul, it's more easier to gain LP with Curios found around the game. But besides that, that's all I can give you.

Animals have Murder now, so be careful.

Anyway, I might be taking in some players if they're sure they're in for the long term, I'm in a well-established village and I'd rather not give top gear to someone and have him quit on me in a couple of weeks.

Ok, everyone who is in our village, PM me who your toons are, 'cause since we're getting a ton of people now, I need to keep a list of who's who.

Just an FYI, I've begun a village (shoulda known there'd be a thread like this up already).  Village is named Nazushotan, which I've been told translates into "Bloodwine" from dwarven.  Few people now, but we've located copper and tin, have a palisade (two actually) a good farm, and an actual village claim.  I am lawspeaker, and my Hearth Secret is "bananahammock".  It really is.  I've also located our position on the algeralith map, and we've perfected the art of killing bear and deer.

Not sure how well other B12 villages are handling, but we're doing quite nice and tidy here.  Please join, we have so much food we're stealing cupboards for more storage.  Being founded on a grassland means a ton of auroch and mouflon for dinner.  Hope you like con!

I just posted like 6 hours ago.  Failing any catastrophic disaster while I was asleep, my village should still be there...
