Like I said 2 pages ago, we booted him out of the village for being useless, and then here he goes trying to get us all murdered by Odditown on the hnh forums...

Okay, I want to try this. Anyone who wants to start a nomadic band, PM me for my hearth secret. I'm happy enough for my little shack to serve as a starting point. I'm in supergrid E5. I don't know how often I can be on, so I'm thinking we can do it this way: We get a copy of the world map as up-to-date as possible and mark locations on it where we will keep stashes. Possibly we can claim the land they're on and allow other members of the group passage, to prevent some of the griefing which might otherwise destroy us quickly. We'll need some way to communicate outside of the game. Maybe an IRC channel or a private "group" on some site or other where we can share images.

If you do manage to get this project underway, send me a PM and maybe we can be one of the friendly villages on your route. I should probably ask some of the others in the group, but that's more a formality than anything since I can't imagine why they'd say no.

I've actually wanted to do the gypsie thing, but ultimately I'm not really cut out for it. Least I can do is support some folks who wanna try out the style.

Thanks, KoE. The more I hear about these villages, the happier I am that I've chosen to stay out of them. So far my band of gypsies numbers only two, but if anyone else is interested, send me a PM. It's really quite nice to do what you please all the time instead of worrying about what the leader says is most useful for the town. And once we get a couple of good trade routes going, we shouldn't suffer for want of resources and equipment.

I can't imagine playing a game where the leader of my group says "do as I command or we'll kill you, and if you expected this game to be FUN then you're playing the wrong game!" Naturally if there are any traitors who sabotage us, they'll be banished and killed if they return. But no one will be killed for not sticking to an assigned role or doing something the group might consider useless. It's a game. It should be fun.

Yup village with dictatorial leaders are pretty much made to fail. The current one I'm in is okay a few actives and a few more less actives but mostly bay12 so decent people. The lawspeaker has strange ideas sometimes, but generally listens to input so it works out okay.

Actually this round of thieves we've had is the only problems of any of the villages I've been in. That said I might tag along with your gypsies for a while if you ever come around this area, it'll be good to have a mobile camp for once :)

Well, not all villages seem to be quite as dramatic as the stuff in this thread. We have the opposite problem (everybody is either fundamentally against taking charge or fairly ambivalent about it). Fortunately a fair bit can be accomplished just through open cooperation... but it still bugs me when the 'public' cupboard are suddenly full of crappy charcoal or toads and rats. (We also have one very industrious little roadbuilder. You'd think we had ten times the people we do looking at the place. That, or some deranged architects.)

At the end of the day it does come down to who you're playing with. There's plenty of successful village models to work with, especially if you're not obsessed with being TEH VERY BES WHOSE IS BETTER DEN SODOMZ.

Why not create a separate subforum for h&h, with the themes.
Here, everything is mixed.

Villages
Good Idea
Questions
Guides
etc.

Few minor Orzammar things:

-There is a small newbie settlement a few minimaps west of us, where the terrain changes. I saw three hearthfires and three leanto's. Part of the area was claimed, and part wasn't.
-We should remove the runestones on the south road out of town. They really narrow the area you can walk.
-Killed my first boar! I put all the meat and intestines in a chest outside town square, because the meat grinder is in too poor of condition to use.
