I have no idea where to go to get to any village.  Even trying to find my friend (using kin feature and partying, so I knew which direction to walk) resulted in a HUGE, aimless expanse.  Can someone help me locate anyone?

It is easier to have your friend tell you his HS then make a new character if this one is fresher then 2 or 3 days, and go see the man in the top left corner of the character creation room, this man will ask for a HS then if one exists of spelling he will spawn a stairwell, using this stairwell will cause you to spawn next to your friend's Hearth Fire...
Also know that party arrows are messed up at long distances, click the Party portrait in the top left corner and your hearthling will walk in the correct direction, you may find that you are going the complete opposite direction that way...

Actually its better to have the walls up before the idol, the walls will prevent people from coming in just after it finishes its setting time and stealing the Village out from under your nose...

Me and my new two friends are making a little piece of landscape art. We decided to dedicate it to DF.



Kindly note, epic dwarvenly beard and dwarven hairy armpits. Detail is important to us artists.

He's not finished yet (and has a few errors here and there), but so far we think he needs a hat and a red brick floor to stand on. Later (much later; when we're all stinking rich) we'll pave him over in pure gold.

There is a corner post there at a litural corner, use that so you can build a gate, then just extend from that Cornerpost northwards, FYI, Gates need the 2 tiles infront and behind them paved for them to actually be built...

Ha, I just finally found myself on the map! It's exciting to know exactly where I am in the world. And I see I'm only about a supergrid or so away from Lothering. Maybe I'll take a trip down there sometime and pay a visit, if I'd be welcome. I can even bring stuff to trade.
