I'm sure a lot of the players are new and don't know Neyvn. You should probably just have told them.

Hope thats not in your camp. Just tearing Dried hides into strips is plenty enough to make rope, considering that the Large hides give 8 strips and medium 4 and the Rabbit 2...

Is there any way to expand your carrying capacity besides the backpack? I thought carts would allow transportation of large amounts of items at once, but then I realized they're only for lift-able objects. Which seems a bit illogical - how hard would it be to throw 100 sticks on a cart rather than carrying them a few at a time and having to walk back and forth over and over again?

Unless I'm wrong about carts; I'm going based on what I saw on the wiki, haven't actually built one.

There are a few ways to do it.
EDIT:: Opps stupid mouse...

Anyway, one way is of course having a backpack, this add two new columns to your inventory, a handy thing none the less...
http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Backpack

There is also things called Travelers Sack, these require Waxed leather, they add a single Column and Row (Row added for above 20Q apparently) for each one you carry but fill the hand slots (naturally you can only carry 2 at a time)
http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Traveller%27s_Sack

Finally there is the merchant cloak, this adds a whole row, this includes that when you are wearing backpack and carrying the travelers bags...
http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Merchant%27s_Robe

Then there is Crates/containers inside carts/boats and wagons which can carry 16 liftable items and i think 46 inv items... (which is alot if you put large chests in the liftable and fill the rest with things you need straight away...)

A cart with 4 crates is pretty easy to build and holds 60 item spaces.

Also, I think I need to really work on my combat skills. I got murdered (didn't build up any defense) almost instantly by a fox. The control system is REALLY awkward.  :-[

Anyway, I got knocked down to 18(!) HHP. What's more, using leeches doesn't seem to be helping. At all. I bloated eight of the things, carefully moving in and out of the swamp to preserve my few SHP, and I still have only 18 HHP. Anyone have an idea why this is?

Could have been a server problem, since the leeches I placed in my inventory seem to no longer be bloated (or do they just do that naturally?)

They deflate over time.
