Well, it was reported and answered that it is indeed intended that a sailing boat can be destroyed from another sailing boat.  Sometimes I really do think the devs are idiots.

I'm a way out so can spawn safely, I'll go back in a bit after dinner and scout around to see who is there. You'll recognise the hostiles because of the bear capes.
