Boy I'm asking this in a lot of threads :P But I really want to find a game to play with you guys (Bay12) and finding I'm coming up empty handed.

Haven and hearth still pretty popular around here? Or did it die out as well like the other games I've been finding?

So they just announced a world reset in two weeks, and with it comes a major change: they finally implemented stat caps (50 free, 125 verified, 200 subscribed). This makes for a lot more even playing field and you're no longer forced to eat and study every day to not fall behind, you're just gonna take a bit longer to max out if you play casually. Also, with the payment now determining caps, there's no more playtime limitations. Also, they did some work on the mapgen, and apparently we're finally going to get coherent river systems :D

What, caps based on paying ugh. Not sure how that will even out the playing field, seem like the reverse to me. To be fair, 50 is good enough to experience most content minus pvp and deep mining, but I actually prefered the time limitation thing.

Well, with no caps, it was pretty much guaranteed you'd have much lower stats when poopsocking/botting PvP-ers come to your door. This way you can fight on equal stats with them even if you joined late into a world and you don't play 24/7. But yeah, I don't think either that needing subscription for max stats is the ideal solution, but I can't think of a better one, and TBF you can win in PvP with 125 stats vs 200 if you're better at the combat system. IMO it's better than time limits so free players won't have to conserve playtime so there should be more people online at a time.

Also as someone who took part a lot in pvp, rarely did most people bring out their best characters to go raiding.  Those usually got saved for sieges and defensive usage.  So I can bet you that a very good chunk of pvp'ers will probably be using an alt account with only verified at the most on it.

How is the whole "anyone can bash down your wall real easy so prepare to get fucked" these days? I felt like you had a much better chance of keeping your stuff in Salem than you ever did in hnh.

Well, with top strength capped at 200 it'll be actually impossible to break palisade by hand if it's damage soak isn't decreased. As for safety, if you have a brick wall and do daily ram checks it's pretty much impossible to break into your place. I think siege system will be the main priority for development after this reset.

also even if someone were to steal your keys, you can't tresspass through a gate onto someone's land anymore and commit crimes.  Same goes for if you leave your gate open and someone runs through, other than follow you around and yell at you they can't do a darned thing.

It's pretty fun these days, but very unforgiving of taking break so the grind tends to make people quit. With stat caps in place, we just need a way to "freeze" our livestock so it doesn't starve but doesn't reproduce or give resources, and it'll be possible to take breaks and then come back to the game.

Can you explain this a bit? Are you saying that you can no longer steal from claimed land or is there some feature where you can't steal from claimed land surrounded by a wall?

So with stats capped at 200 are people forced to build a ram to knock down palisade walls? What would cause its damage soak to be decreased?

Final question (for now) is there any system in place to make trading easier?

You can't steal from claimed land with a wall surrounding it, you need to bust down a part of the wall to be able to do so.

Yes you need to build a ram it would seem to be able to knock down palisade walls, walls soak starts off low when built and then increases over time.  So someone could still punch down your newly built wall (that;s to also prevent someone walling off your front door of course)

There's a fast travel system in place now for trading though i have not played since it was implemented so I don't know about it.
