Yeah, you can't farm on mountains and there's very little wood.  You also can't flatten mountain terrain so it just doesn't work sadly.  Personally I think moving west is the best bet, after scouting that area a bit it's very clear of other players.

A nice female player told me I've spawned in the top left area of the map, but not quite near the edge. I don't have much time to play though...

Searching for curio i traveled for about 2h, i guess mostly to the east, the place i'm at right now looks really good, theres no ppl around, mix of few biomes, lakes and rivers.

We have made it well, we have discouvered tin, copper, iron and coal.  We have a palisade, village idol, silk production and are starting to try and tame.

Basically I'd say we have gotten out of the early game and into the mid game :D

I decided to try this hermit style a while ago. Interesting and tough, but doesn't like to explain anything. Also community is quite hit and miss, I feel like I'm inadequately prepared all of the time. XD

Ah, I'm not currently playing I'm afraid, but still, very interested in hearing stories from the village. I only have 2 hours of spare time each day, and I'm usually very tired to play, so I just sit and watch some series.

Might join in the future though. In the meantime, stories will do :)
