complexity = fun but of course we dont have to go crazy, still forming some militia, some set of rules etc. is imo important so we wont fall in total chaos when we gather some ppl, taxes later on sounds good aswell, maybe some kind of currency. I think most fun is rp a little bit, try to create something big, used to play at some world in 'Holy Roman Empire' we had few cities and few smaller villages across large part of the map, that was fun. Im up to creating something big and organized and rp a little bit, otherwise it would get boring after a while.

Well rules are generally don't steal/murder/assault/vandalize.  Militia is a must and given.  For tax's it'd probably be along the lines of food/gear paid to militia just cause they better off they are the better everyone is protected... but I dunno we'd have to sort out everything in the game.  Probably RP making all the rules and such because that's fun and a bit easier to sort out once we know what we have to work with.

As for multiple village's we'll probably want at least two-four... Main one/backup if we get sieged/destroyed/trading camp/militia barracks town.  Plus whatever else anyone else makes, but that would be what I personally tend to make.  Having two of everything in seperate locations is my personal strategy so that if worse comes to worse you never need to fully rebuild.

I'll come back for this again if we do it. Honestly, the more complex a system is, the more likely it is to fail. We can all live together, and simply work out exchanges in our relevant professions, while trying to keep the safety and success of the town as our priority. If you need something from someone else, just ask, and if it's for the general good of everyone(IE, setting up a mine) they should give it to you. If you're just trying to improve yourself, work out a exchange. I'd suggest a public house for new people until they can set up their own plot, with free stuff that everyone contributes to.

Gotta agree with this. I'd suggest trying to make the village as decentralized and modular as possible. Lots of individual plots (even allowing plot owners to palisade/brick their plot in), a couple straightforward "no asshole" rules, and no/few taxes beyond "help with the militia". Basically, give the folks that will be playing long term the chance to survive the inevitable abandonment/betrayal of the village.

I hate to be the cynic here, but Bay12 has a penchant for tiring of games within a week and H&H villages organized on popular public forums tend to get sabotaged.

Historically the most successful villages in H&H used individual plots system. Everyone pooling together tends to lead to ridiculous inefficiencies.

Sounds good, well its kinda random with how long your village can last, depends on how fast russian gankers will find you, the point is to train some decent militia fast enough to not get raped by griefers, eventually they would leave after realizing we are not an easy target, but well, depends on ppl

I've got the benefit of speaking Russian, so I guess I could be our diplomat :)

Been thinking about getting back to some H&H. Been missing the farms I build. Large things that are totally unneeded but looks cool. Generally raped by Russians but meh...

Ah yes, remember looking up this game, having mild interest and then finding out about Russians and deciding it wasn't for me. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) it was before I tried the game.
