Fun and little know fact: two leeches in the correct slots will serve as a perfect shoe subsistute if you ever find yourself with bare feet.

Marcher Lords are back after a 1.5 world break.  I'd love to ally with any BN/DF factions that also return.

Hey! You can't be the Marcher Lords, we were supposed to be the Marcher Lords in honor of your memory! (though in all seriousness it's nice to know you're back). I would of course be happy to ally, and hopefully we aren't on opposite sides of the map or something.

Yeah if people are out in force messing with people I might wait to see if a big village is coming out for some protection. I mind it less when people can just outright kill me. :D

Brodgar is coming along nicely. We have several experienced hunters bringing in bears, boars and deer, a half dozen houses or so up, and the central keep palisade already finished. Today we added the vidol, and in 24 hours H&H's one and only 'public town' goes live.

For those of you worried about security, a few differences this time...

1. The central keep. The middle (vidol area) is out of sniping range. Access is of course only for those authorized.
2. Authorization restrictions. Very loose in the sense that anybody can join, but much tighter than previously. We will not simply authorize anybody who asks, but only those with an active plot in town who have been around a few days helping out. This alone should make a noticible difference.

It will still be a dangerous town, but, I think, a very fun one.

Tempting, but I am going to have to avoid big/central settlements for... mostly the same reason I avoid cities, and more than a dozen human beings concentrated in one spot IRL.

Because they are impure.  >:(

I've played this game in World 3 and World 6, never really gotten much more than a claim with a small house and some leatherworking. I'm working on a little hermit farm right now.

Are there any big villages (Aside from Brodgar) around yet or is everybody still finding their feet?

I've just settled in the north limit of the map, not sure where exactly. Have found a little peninsula (though it's land connection is blocked by the map limit) with 35ish Q soil and 40Q water (probably more, limited by surv). There's also a 23ish Q clay node around which I found enough, at least for now. I've finished my "home" house and now I'm building a warehouse while my main is looking for seeds and low Q leather.

I'm quite happy, though I've just panicked when someone started talking to me in russian (took my boat and ported home xD). As I write this I'm currently taking some leeches to fish, and planning my claim, which will be something like this:

Could the various HnH bay12 people who are in villages/leading villages pm me thier hs's and preferably skype info if you have it?  A support network/bay12 connected alliance would allow us to secure some type of power grip this world.  If you don't want to give me your hs pm me and tell me so, I'll send you mine.

So I finally got around to trying this again. Couldn't remember my old login details, so I just made a new account.
I think I've already gotten further than last time- I managed to pull some branches off trees and build a fire, and I'm about to try and build a basket. :P
Pretty useless, so far. I'm reading guides but haven't yet worked out how to tell what sort of area I'm in-- there are what look to be pine trees, mostly. I saw a settlement somewhere nearby, so I guess the land can't be too bad. (They didn't kill and eat me, either, so that's a plus)

Protip: You can study soldier ants and queen ants too if you haven't figured that out. They're pretty great LP.

Although if I remember correctly queen ants give psyche LPs which are fairly rare if you don't have access to a cave so you might want to save them up.
