We are kinda lonely guys, only two or three people seem to ever log in now.  :( Hope to see you guys on on the weekend, I have all the metal we'll need for a brickwall so if you guys wanna be safe and be able to grow without fear of death we need to work together to build the walls!

yeah, the plan is to build a permanent stone enclosure just to the south of the palisade. It will finally be safe and its a great spot.

Also, if you feel locked in by the gate: You can put up your hearthfire outside the palisade and just use the fast-travel, it really works like a charm.

Like I said a few pages ago, I'd love to join in. Someone sent me a HS but it doesn't seem to work anymore, so I've just been waiting for another chance to ask again.

Oh my god. Some idiot decided that since I, a random hermit who has never done anything, should have *all* his stuff not bolted down stolen, and everything that IS bolted down destroyed. To top it off, he destroyed my kiln and oven, both of which were made from clay that I had gone through extreme amounts of trouble to get, the chicken coup which I had spent tons of time finding chickens for, etc.

On the bright side, my crops are still standing and he seems to of not touched the inside of my house. I also finished studying a curiosity which gave me 17k LP. I guess next time I should put up a palisade ASAP.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

The last time I visited the thread, the discussion was very much "We can't support more noobs" and turned away, so instead my friends and I ended up creating our own village so we could actually play without needing to rely on others >:

well, anyone who wants to join up we are doing brickwalls over the weekend, so pm me your hearth secret or pm me that you need a HS to spawn at.  I'll be letting people into the bigger village based on who's actually active in game.  Also werty can you please declaim the area now?  i've been doing trading and such to get us what we need for walls and it makes it difficult :)   But yeah I hope that by monday we'll have a large secondary area brickwalled in and idol'ed with cross-roads, at which point people that are interested in playing can move in to build homes and such.  Otherwise theres still the palisaded town thing we are currently living at.

Hey, that shit happens. I doubt a palisade is going to help you much, though, if he can bash down your oven.
How close to the water did you build? If you're right on the river, you're an easy target.

The sad truth of it is, any place that isn't the deep black heart of a dismal coniferous forest, is choice real estate for griefers. Like Errol said, avoid rivers, and landmarks in general. A handy trick is to measure your distance from said locations using the grid layout for the local map on Ender's Client, placing your settlement at least a square and a half from them. Building in the middle of a bramble patch is icing on the cake, provided you have the patience.

While this tends to be an inconvenience and rarely coincides with high quality resource nodes... well, that's how being a hermit goes. :P

*checks out location on map*

Well, crap, I'm only half an ender grid from the river. D: Time to consider moving.
I'm down for the new brickwall village btw, but probably am not going to move into it. Perhaps put my valuables inside.

I was actually quite far away from any river. You had to walk quite a distance to get to the nearest one.

If I like Don't Starve would I like this? It's kinda hard to get a feel for this game without playing I imagine.

I logged in as Detaza (Azated backwards, I already died on my first character). Jumped to the HS and have no idea what to do.
