Anyone else having some pretty intense boat chases in this world? Got chased by 3 guys who kept yelling trollolololo while shooting at me from their boats. Lasted about 30 minutes. Don't think they knew that you can't really aim at someone who is moving... or while you are moving. I think I'm settled in a pretty hostile area lol

They were probably hoping to get out a lucky shot that would k.o. you.

Boatchases seem to be a pretty common in this world and the permanent hostility in most supergrids has already reduced the overall player population considerably. The first two weeks you had trouble playing at all on saturday and sunday afternoons, with 1000-1200 players online at the same time - this is down to about 800. Now that the first palibashers have emerged (see HnH forum) it's only going to get worse.

The problem with w6 is that there is almost no change compared to w5 (in fact, the whole development of HnH is on hold until they finsh Salem, which only just attained alpha status) and as a result a lot of veterans have stopped playing, which means there are far less 'good guys' to keep some of the more aggressive factions in check and the existing factions are simply bored, killing what they can find right and left.

They admitted that W6 is identical to W5.  The only difference is data management and server backups, which doesn't change gameplay at all.  It's functionally identical.

Botting tree cutters for unlimited LP was even more crap.  Any system that discourages active play and encourages bots is very broken.

The fundamentals of the game encourage botting; that's why it's still rampant in H&H and any similar game.

Unlimited sure, but hardly efficient. Bear hunting was much better to do, and farming decent (q50+) wheat would earn more LP per hour. And the current system does far more to discourage active play. I can't earn anything by playing, so if I need LP I just need to semi-regularly log in to restock the mentory. Makes no difference whether or not I'm active in between stock ups.

See that's quite wrong though, sure you don't need to log in but you will only get good stats and items q's by playing regularily.  and since almost everything in this game is ultimately affected by quality, playing actively is far better.  For instance you can just log on once a day, and add curios but without actually playing you won't get good int, and will be able to use less curios.  And if you don't play much at all, your curio q never increases so the rate at which you gain LP also drops sharply.

I feel the new system to be far superior since you can do the monotonous things like building houses, paving, farming, ect without feeling that you are losing out on lp to the hunters.

http://www.havenandhearth.com/portal/
^You can sign up and start playing in the java applett fairly easily here. If you keep playing the game, I recommend you look into one of the modded clients for easier navigation and utility.

Haven and Hearth is, at it's essence, a game which combines long-term grinding and pvp perma-death. Personally I love the former, hate the latter. Some people feel the opposite, and some love the game just as it is. Only you can decide if it's right for you.
A simplified example would be that you can play for an hour and find a stick and go around beating on people with it. Play for a day and learn how to form a crude stone sword, and maim people with that. Play for a week and accumulate resources to build an iron sword. play for a month and you'll be carrying a steel sword. Play for 6 months and you'll have a lvl 100 sharpened steel broadsword of doom. Then you run into a gang of 12 angry russians who team up and beat on you with sticks until you die and lose the last 6 months of progress.
You can put up walls and build houses and grow crops pursue other various tradeskills, form a village with other players and travel together to try to stay alive as long as possible. But ultimately the entire game is one big struggle to survive in a world with assholes around every corner. Despite all that though, I would still recommend giving the game a try, IF it was still being updated regularly. Sadly that is not the case.

Just got back into this game and started a little hamlet with a friend. I don't suppose there's a Bay12 village anywhere?

Nah, last time I player H&H was two worlds ago, and even then I only played with a few friends in a pretty unsuccessful plot of claimed land. I was just wondering if there was anywhere I might be able to go if my current location doesn't do too well.
