Dolomite is one of the materials that is now magma-safe under v31.18. My Bookkeeper was possessed, and made an Artifact Dolomite Grate. It has decorations of other materials... Aventurine and Red Spinel. The Spinel should be OK, but the Aventurine might be below the magma-safe thermal cut-off.

I'm thinking of using the grate in my magma-trap. Will the decorations cause it to melt? Or is only the base material a factor? Should I risk my Artifact for the sake of !!Science!!?

... I'm not particularly fond of the Bookkeeper anyway...

As far as I'm aware, only the base material is considered.

The way I see it... if I use the Artifact in my magma trap, then regardless of whether the magma or the Artifact wins, it's certain that !!Dwarven Science!! will win. The only loser might be the Bookkeeper.

That's why your name looked familiar!  I kept thinking: "Blue Emu..that reminds me of somebody in a position of authority, yet that is not the case in the DF boards."  Mystery solved!  I've read countless threads about mods and AARs on the paradox forums.  I be a super-lurker.

But yes, I totally agree that you should do !!Science!! with this grate.  As my dad always says: "In research, there is no bad news.  In manufacturing, there is no good news."  You get to do research here.  No matter the outcome, we will all end up better-off.  It'll be grate!
