American Congresswoman Shot ; 11 others shot, 6 killed, RIP

Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head, and killed at a public event. A gunman opened fire on a crowd, hit 12 people, including Rep. Giffords, and killed at least 5 people, including Federal Judge John Roll and a 9 year old child(girl?).

It's mostly true though : without this "gun for all" nonsense, these shooting would be far less frequent/fatals.
But it's not as you could take them all out now.
I wonder if these democrat's killing will increase. The hardcore republican fan-base is fanatical enough.

It's likely not any one specific issue, but I've heard her offices were vandalized when she supported the health care reform push.

Not likely, when anything even vaguely political is being discussed.

Though I think it would be best if posters simply expressed their condolences for the family and friends of the victim(s). I suspect that all of us can agree that this sort of violence is tragic, unnecessary, and above all, cowardly.

Didn't several republican candidates for congress threaten that "there'd be second amendment solutions" if they lost? Wasn't one of those in Arizona? Didn't said candidate lose? I can't recall the name at the moment, only that it was in one of the particularly assbackward central states.

I've heard conflicting reports on this one. It seems reports said she was alive in the hospital, though the AP just reported she died on their twitter like 30 seconds ago. :(

And yeah, I guess the shooter is in custody.

I believe that particular candidate was Sharon Angle, who ran against Harry Reid in Nevada. I don't exactly remember the context of the quote, but I don't think it was in reference to her losing the election.

Truly horrible.  It seems at least 4 people were killed in this attack...

Apparently, Sarah Palin's website used to have a picture with gun crosshairs over her head.  Bastard.

EDIT: Actually, not on a picture.  But she did have this image.
