The panel contains three unmarked buttons and a circle scanner.

I want to be perfectly clear on what the "circle scanner" is.  What is the scanning surface?  Is it the entire circular space?  And if so, is it noticeably larger or smaller than a Sectoid eye?

Is the scanning surface actually that sort of ring-shape we can see within the larger circle?  Is it the tiny dot at the center of the circle?  Or are both of these features just graphic details, without functional significance?

Is the scanning surface completely flat, or does it have a "keyhole" component?

As to the buttons, I'd guess that the two rectangles are a simple "raise/lower" pair.  That's the most logical if someone didn't bother to label them.  The remaining button may serve as "warm up scanner," "lock/unlock," or "call for help."  I would recommend against touching this last one until more is known about the others.

You approach the circle scanner with your eye.
You prepare to press all of the buttons.
With any luck your eye will be the perfect thing to unlock the door.



Shortly after your buttoning spree the scanner attempts to scan your eye.
It is jarring to say the least.



Your right eye has been somewhat temporarily blinded by direct exposure to a laser.
The door also hasn't opened.

The circle scanner is the round part located on the upper half of the panel.

Well . . . I just inquired as to whether there were any divots and such in the scanner.  I didn't get much of a response.  I might encourage a methodical pressing of buttons, this time without an eye in front of the scanner, to see which ones prompt the scan.

Also, when it comes to "blasting the scanner," I'm reminded of Luke Skywalker blasting the bridge extension control and immediately regretting it.  Not to mention that we have no reason to believe that this suit has "blast" capabilities.  And TQ-01 doesn't trust TQ-02 with the Leeannalyzer.  (It needs a name, whatever.)

Different thought.  I'd been wondering if the scanner were for an eye or a hand.  This:

. . . Suggests that eyes aren't supposed to be used.  Real-world eye scanners do not hurt.  Yeah, Sectoid eyes may be more sensitive, but I wonder . . . what happened to that hand from someone who actually belonged on the ship?  Please tell me it was brought into the elevator shaft before being dropped!  If it was, get that hand and try it on the scanner.

You take  a little less close look at the panel.
You press each button methodically.
The first two rectangular buttons show no noticeable reaction.
The third circular button activates the scanning laser.



Normally you wouldn't even be bothering with this panel's door games.
This panel however seems to be impossible for you to pry off.
Clearly this is the work of a masterful engineer.

Maybe more updates tonight if I don't go crazy.

Open some crates ans ee if there is anything that would work as a pry-bar, and worm it under the door. If heat was escaping through the bottom, it indicates that there is an unsealed gap there.

Well, check to see if scanning your hand does anything first.

And if the "anything" is an alarm that goes "Awoogah!  Unauthorized Sectoid hand detected!" then consider leaving the room.
