I was waiting for someone to say Ginger Ale.

That's been the stock "you're sick, drink this" beverage in my family for generations.

Add a little dry or whatever toast to that, and it will get you on the mend even if you have the pukies.

I only find Ginger Ale "ok" when I'm feeling normal. But when I'm feeling under the weather it's amazing.

The ginger flavor is pretty tame in ginger ale compared to most of its other uses. The closest I can compare it to is like Sprite, only not as sweet and a little tangier.

My drink of choice when available is Reed's Extra Ginger Brew.
On that note, I drink very finely-ground extra bold coffee black and complain about how sweet it tastes.

Old Jamaican ginger beer is my tipple of choice, ginger wise.  I find the sort of ginger ales that are provided in pubs here - the little bottles for mixing with whiskey - to be a bit bland

It's that blandness and neutrality we've always attributed to making it a good drink for upset stomachs. Fizzy, mostly flavorless, with just a hint of ginger so it's not like drinking soda water.

It's also the preferred drink of his Neutralness.

Ginger ale is the best for nausea.  I've been taking stomach-turning painkillers all week, and every time I feel sick I have a glass of the stuff.  It works!

Tea with honey is great for the throat, chamomile, lemon, ginger and peppermint are my favorites.  Juice is good, but you may want to mix anything citrus with water so it isn't too acidic.

 Anyway, tea is great. Especially herbal tea or tea with honey.

Tea is great when I'm sick. I don't necessarily mean black tea, I mean all kinds of things. Chai can be stimulating if you need that, and mint-based teas are refreshing (a hot drink made out of mint can feel really nice if you've got something going on in your respiratory tract or other head apertures. There are so many damn drinks people make out of plants, there's something for every occasion, and drinking a hot beverage in general is soothing.

My personal favorite drink when I'm sick is hot peach tea (or an herbal infusion for you purist types) with a small amount of Crystal Light or similar lemonade mix (add while stirring until you can't see through your tea anymore) and then a teaspoon of agave or honey. Incidentally, this is also my favorite drink when I'm not sick.

When I've been throwing up, my personal choice has always been sports drinks like Gatorade. They tend to be incredibly bland, non-acidic and easy on the stomach. They don't gum up my throat mucus like soft drinks do, and I find the flavoring helps me keep it down when plain water is making me gag. Good for fighting dehydration, which is a concern with vomiting.

I mean, I wouldn't call them tasty. I can't stand them any time when I'm not sick. But they've saved my stomach many a time.

If you just have a sore throat, an herbal tea can be nice and soothing. I tend to try to avoid caffeine since generally the best thing you can do when sick is sleep as much as possible.

Ramen broth; it is really slaty and more of a meal than a drink but the steam will clear up your sinuses
