Thanks to this thread I'm checking the dictionary 5x as often... :b
So this has started! w00t!      I say we build a jacuzzi with massage pumps
Please explain your idea better... Like...?

Oh, and I think I understand why you were sent away...
I'll try to be as active as I can. From tomorrow I'll be on DF 50% of the time I use the computer. I just hope that's enough with school and all.

I'll take one of the aboveground rooms.

That pretty much covers it. But the room needs to have channels of magma to make it all warm

I suggest we make use of an obsidian cave-in gun, like this:

z3:
/───────\
|++   ++|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|7%> <%7|
|++   ++|
\───────/

z2
/───────\
|─\+++/─|
|7|+.+|7|
|7|+.+|7|
|7|+.+|7|
|7|+.+|7|
|7|+.+|7|
|7|+.+|7|
/7|+.+|7\
X7|+.+|7X
|─/+++\─|
\───────/

z1
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|
   |+|

z3 without pumps (just in case):
/───────\
|++   ++|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|7+   +7|
|++   ++|
\───────/

+ . = floor
| ─ / \ = wall
%> <% = pumps
7 = magma
7 = water
X = floodgate

Building destroyer-proof, flyer-proof, scalable, dig to reset. Don't carve ramps or channel, as doing so would remove the floor on z2 that prevents flyers from going up to the mechanics and wreaking havoc.

EDIT: Found it.
EDIT2: I am willing to stake my pride on the ability of this machine, if made for a much longer (say, 300 tile) hallway, to overcome the HFS.
EDIT3: I would like an underground room, please.
EDIT4: added floodgates to the design.

It is, of course, not fully tested, but that's just a bonus.

How about a yin-yang sign, channeled on the surface. One filled with water, the other with magma.

COMBO BONUS: Figure out how to make it switch around.

Chambers below/inbetween... and mod the pumps to be really frigging fast :p

We're in a warm climate so that about covers it... Where should the magma be anyways?

Nice thinking, but your gun will need a floodgate at the liquid entry points to stop it from clogging up.
So many ideas... Too big... Eating me alive... Well this is what I signed up for. But most of the ideas are on hold until I find an aquifer and use it's water to make A LOT of water wheels. Also gonna have to to build a giant platform on top of everything that's filled with windmills. Or I could try cutting the power at gear assemblies right near the windmills. But that would require more clever thinking. Well I'm happy to be able to fiddle with power. Never had much of a chance.
Magma, you can just cut the power to the pumps. I hope that they manage to pump enough to create a wall instead of a floor. Because it should cool instantly but I'm not sure if the pumps can send 2 layers of liquid through during 1 frame.
Oh and where can I drain the magma from the volcano to make the glass entry? I can't alter the edges of the map so... Yeah... Wait... I could just drain some into the yin-yang sing but that still leaves a bunch... Any ideas?
1st post updating soon!

Pumps send all magma/water at the source to the exit every single frame. I'm more worried that the cave-in generator will make multiple blocks of obsidian on the same tile, which will stack up and can really be a pain and a danger (single-tile cave-ins!) to remove.

Well it's good some info is confirmed...
Now we just need to know how quickly does a dwarf pull a lever and how fast water flows. Maybe we should play it safe and use floodgates? Why do we have the 2nd floor down there anyways? I remember that it would fall through the upper floor but how are we going to dig it out if we have no access to it? If we do then that would leave it vulnerable to building destroyers and flying creatures. So might as well only have 1 floor. I doubt we will have any practical use for it anyways.
Oh and Crocatowa, you said something about designs of a fit pit...
Migrants came! Only 3 :(
1. 10 mason, 6 clothier, 3 observer, 2 dodger, 2 armor user, 2 bowman, 2 archer, 1 kicker, 1 fighter
2. 6 gem setter, 1 bowman, 1 dodger, 1 armor user, 1 student, 1 organizer, 1 observer, 1 archer
3. 2 cook, 1 bone doctor, 1 flatterer
None of these were even partially according to your wishes Dariush. Do you want 1 of these?
