help a newbie out
« on: January 07, 2011, 09:49:47 pm »

Trying to create a knife wielding assassination squad and I'm having trouble raising their weapon skill. Meaning that they keep dying. Is there an effective way to train them without having them die? Any suggestions?

If you have money, you could have them learn the Dodge skill by (L)earning at the University.

Blizzard is managed by dark sorcerers, and probably have enough money to bail-out the federal government.

I recommend training fighters by first recruiting and equipping a full squad (6 people) so maximum damage is dealt and minimum damage is received. The two best places for training in my opinion are the "normal" factories (because they have no conservatives with firearms under normal security) and the crack houses (because you won't start attracting police attention until you've trained your squad).

However, patience is critical. It's best to mosey out before it's too late. Don't get greedy, you won't survive the SWAT Teams or gangsters anyway and chases are always risky.

Juice is critical, and while I've never used this method myself, you may quickly boost it without heat by crack house punchouts.

Anohter method for a squad that already has some guts to fend off larger hordes is to raid the Cable news or AM radio, and wait for the conservative masses to come. Rednecks, Hicks and Countryboys are easy killin' and good juicin' and it will take the conservatives WEEKS to wipe blood from the floor tiles.

I'd also suggest only using people that already have some skill with knives.  With most weapon skills, even one point will make a world of difference, and knife skill is relatively common.  You'll also want decent health, as health determines the degree of harm to the liberal if they are hit.

Gain skill on weak targets first.  I usually start out by walking the edges of the park or latte stand, and attack traditionally weak conservatives, then move on to the factories, followed by the genetic lab, always leaving as soon as the alarm is sounded, but fighting my way out.

If the charts here are still accurate, I never realized how powerful knives were in relation to other melee weapons.  They can be concealed, and are more powerful than all the club weapons.  Just make sure you're using an actual knife, and not a shank or syringe, which also use the knife skill but have significantly less maximum damage.  Strength of the user may also factor into the damage.  If you kill or seriously injure the conservative on the first attack, they can't shoot/stab/bludgeon you.

Knives have the ability to sever limbs, they do high damage and are quite powerful. Unfortunately, by the way, you can't go stealthily stabbing people. A stab alarms conservatives just as much as a pistol shot, for some reason.

Yeah. No matter why, this is why creating an assassination squad is impossible, it'll function like any combat squad no matter whatever weapon it uses. The only stealth advantage of knives is that they are concealable - they won't raise an alarm the second they see you. Why I'm pointing this out is that it might be a bit counterintuitive.

Thanks guys. Another question. I've just downloaded the newest version. I currently having 5 people selling art. Their art skill currently maxed. And the monthly report reads total drawing sales at 544 dollars. I was making more money in the previous version with just 3 artists. Is this correct?

EDIT: all of my artists skills are above 15.0

Could be because the costs have been reduced as well, but I don't know, I haven't done art that much.

It is theoretically possible to oversaturate the market and lose money with additional artists, but I doubt that would happen in the 3-to-5 range.
