About... 6 years, then I started having fps problems. The end  :(
try modding raws so u can set pop limit

Well I tried that, set the limit to... 70 dwarfs, unfortunately there will be a point in which you've just dug up too much/created too many items and when that day comes, your fps will drop to an unbearable point.

Back in 40d I accidentally rolled a dead civ and made it to more than 20 years with 14 dwarves while waiting for DF2010 to come out.

However on my underpowered computer I usually suffer framerate death by year ten.  :'(
