And the older dragons only really seem to get right angry when someone tries to steal their stuff. Red in the mountain didn't seem angry or violent until Rarity tried to steal his jewels (and then rainbow kicked him in the face!), and Green didn't seem bad until spike ate his.

River dragon seemed nice enough, too.

As to the "dark" cutie marks...

I think the show has said that it's not really destiny, your cutie mark. It's a product of the environment in some ways, I think. After all, it is based on the realization of what your special talent is, which always happens eventually, so its got to be something you not only do, but do enough to have developed a special talent for it. The talent comes before the cutie mark, not the other way around.
I don't think the apple family cutie marks are genetic, just a natural result of them all being raised somewhere they can learn and develop that talent.

I'd figure that dragons live thousands of years, much like the Alicorn....  With Unicorn students hatching dragon eggs as initiation, that could be a new thing.  Well, with the whelps hatched from those eggs being 'scribes'/gaining life experience with the ponies. 
Its a deal with dragons thing... or the ponies have been stealing dragon eggs... and Celestia is powerful enough to beat down 2-3 full grown dragons at the same time.  The dragons not working together much being the reason why they havn't come down upon ponies in force.  With Luna, the Alicorns could probably take down 6-8 dragons together, already putting down dragon 'dissent' before Luna was banished to the moon...


EDIT: There needs to be a cutie mark of lying, but it won't be obvious, cause its all about lying.

Or they have no artists or anyone into the whole pony thing.

There are still lots of people that don't take to 'general' internet culture.  Pockets of resistance everywhere if you know where to look.

It's too bad we can't get everyone on the same page, though, we could overthrow the world and create an Internetocracy. Which would probably be anarchic.
