Seriously, I think MLP:FIM is fine, but on the other hand, I think it'll never even compare to a children's show which I still found very appealing 15 years after its first broadcast.

Well MLP is just a good cartoon. Especially since the makers actively wink at the fandom.

I also think the first 2 episodes are not best when it comes to introducing new fans. Sure it does a good job at creating the background and introducing the main cast but... it's just different and personally not a punny as other episodes (like part of one for example).

Also the main ponies are female characters that are actually rarely seen in cartoons (especially in western animation) since most main charactera are males while females are mostly second story or support characters...

Seriously how many western cartoons have female main characters? The only cartoons i can think of off the bat is "Powerpuff girls" and (to some degree) "Totally Spies" (then again TS tries hard to be anime despite being french).

And the show itself?
Well it is made appropriate for kids (no excessive violence tho you may find some fighting)... at till you get to see Schizo Pie and FlutterRage where you may have some doubts.
The characters are both well developed but still open for some reinterpretations.
The puns are usually funny.
The animation is great compared to most flash cartoons.

Nothing i'm partially furry myself. I just find myself slowly developing a furry gore fetish wherever i see MLP R34.

I don't mind fanfics, but I generally don't read them as I don't like fanon and canon getting mixed up in my head. I might read something comprised of background ponies, but stuff like historical background and character development that is almost certainly going to be disproven by the main show? Naw thanks.
