Is there any point at which it is confirmed mules actually exist in the series? If not, for all we know, it could have been akin to goblins or gremlins; things which don't exist aside from well-known fantasy descriptions.

I'm almost sure I've seen sentient equine creatures other than ponies on the show, and I've found a youtube clip of a scene specifically showing a sentient mule that appears to be taken directly from the show (without being edited or redubbed), although its from an episode that I haven't seen, so I can't be sure.

Does anyone know off-hand the name of the planet mlp takes place on? I'm pretty sure Equestria is the name of the Country. I need it for a Halo/MLP crossover fic.

To my knowledge there is no official name of the planet. There are indications that it is Earth (same constellations in the sky), but I suspect that's not very useful to you, seeing as Earth is in the Halo universe already. Or at least I think it is (my knowledge of the Halo universe is very sparse).
