If you like Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, you might find this as amusing as I did:

I have not anticipated the next episode of a cartoon this much since I was in grade school. I'm still buzzing off a mixture of giddy happiness I get from watching it, and from how much joy other people all over the internet are getting out of it too. It's neat to see even the cartoon's director getting in on the excitement. Lauren Faust is officially pretty cool, in my book.

I'm enjoying the sheer controversy my friends are making over it too. Most of my guy friends refuse to watch it on the account of it being 'girly', one guy friends will watch it with me since he also believes you must experience things out of your personality to grow, one girl says it ostracizes men, one says it belittles women, and one guy who won't watch it says it continues to form a division between masculinity and femininity.

I want to ask, without the introduction to femininity, what is masculinity? Does the divide actually cut one section off from their true personality? I recently watched an episode of My Strange Addiction that showcased a woman body-builder who was freaking awesome, both personality-wise and physically. It seems like if you mix both masculinity and femininity into your outward personality, people will give you funny looks. Certainly you can't be a man and enjoy things stigmatized towards women, and vice versa.

Because of this conflict, I want to watch this show. It will be a nice break from shooting Russians, NVA, and Americans over a stockpile of mortars that can only explode from a briefcase filled with two bubbling liquids that must be set off using the world's noisiest keypad with a ridiculously long timer, and yet the briefcase is so important that the other team must not only throw it somewhere where it can be safely detonated, but must defuse it with that noisy keypad in order to safely be thrust into 3-6 other alternate dimensions where they must do the same thing, until they successfully detonate or salvage a total of four briefcases.

I just discovered the awesomeness that is the background character Derpy Hooves. She's so awesome someone actually made a doll of her.

Depending on the cannon you go by, Derpy/Ditzy may also be in love with a fork named Cloydes... and whether or not it's due to the fanbase she has inexplicably gathered, she's apparently getting a larger role in the second season.

Oh god the ponies! They corrupt!
And god I wish they would make more episodes of The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy.

This show inspired me to dig up Samurai Jack, which I don't find very interesting at this age. Funny how I loved it back then. Oh god I'm getting old.

I found this a week or so back and figured you guys would appreciate it.

My girlfriend, who watched the series to death as a kid, managed to get roughly 50%. I, who randomly guessed, got slightly higher.

I got 3 out of 12. I apparently don't watch enough of either to be able to tell the difference.

Two out of twelve.

Because the awesome cannot be contained within a single thread.
Funny Tack should mention his experience today…

I have too many friends who love the show to end up with any awkwardness related to finding this.

reminds me... do Sea Ponies make an appearance in the new one at all? I haven't come across them yet that I can think of.

Anyways, 8/12 on the test. But then, I've got a good sense for these things.

Also, I am so totally hooked on this, but everyone I know thinks I am crazy. Even my girlfriend refuses to give it a try. :/

Of course, I only like it ironically, obviously. ;)

I got 5/12 on the awesome test, and now regret wasting 40 seconds of my life to take it, and the 30 seconds it took in total for me to post this.

Then all in a couple years, we get Billy and Mandy: The Movie, The Misadventures of Flapjack, The Brave and the Bold, Adventure Time (which I caught a day-long marathon of and was blown away), and now this Ponies thing.  It took me a while to figure out why it was that I loved all these new shows so much.  The slick and recognizable animation, the top-notch character driven joke plots written with anal attention to detail, the superlative voice-acting, the complete disregard for FCC standards and practices, and jokes and references clearly written for people years (if not decades) outside the supposed target-audience.

You're absolutely right, these qualities really do make an enormous contribution to the quality of the shows that you mentioned. I can think of one line from Adventure Time in particular that exemplifies almost all of these qualities at the same time (but especially the last two), in the episode Duke Of Nuts Finn comments "How can the dude be evil if he pets puppies, kisses babies, and lies with his wife?", a line which is really funny if you catch the realize that the end of that statement could be interpreted in a rather more inappropriate way than the literal sense in which Finn meant it...
