You seem bitter.
Perhaps. But no, I'm just overreacting. /co/ is cool and there's always something going on, even if it is just ... (actually, I'm not naming him, he's a cool trip and I don't wanna get him in trouble over that.) ... extorting money from Ponychan. I don't hate it completely. As long as /co/ doesn't get bad, we still have a useful community.
Still, just because it's getting bigger shouldn't mean it necesarilly needs to be worse. Supporting that kind of stuff is bad. There are a lot of cartoons that don't have a furry community. Seriously, giving up and just accepting it is not good.
ED's up to what, a million views a week now?
Actually, it's EqD, in order to not mess it up with Encyclopedia Dramatica. And popular opinion has never meant quality.
All the fan created stuff is being hit pretty hard with sturgeon's law, too, though for every 10 crappy europop and techno remixes there's something awesome. I assume it's the same with the quality of fanfiction/etc. That's not really something to rage about; yeah there's more and more shit being made, but more and more good stuff too.
Except the sturgeon's revelation (not law) is false here. The 90%/10% aren't evenly distributed. You have awesome videos and poops, next to all shit fanwanks, with pics that are somewhere 30% ponychan meme shit but mostly good.
Hell I hate lots of things about the fandom, and have written many a rant about it (mainly the tendancy to rip out every goddamn part of the show and turn it into a meme. I'm sick of hearing "20% cooler" and seeing captioned images with "witty" lines). I wouldn't say it's getting worse, though. Just bigger.
That's what you get when all the /b/ and /co/ rejects make their own chan. Especially when it clearly correlates them being ex- 4chan newfags, making everything into a meme.
I've thought about it and maybe I am a bit bitter and cynical. But you know, it's hard seeing a community about your favourite show, a community you care about, getting shit right in front of your face. And with pretty much nothing you can do.
At least /co/ is still normal. As long as those bros are around, I actually have somewhere to discuss the show.
Usually. Heh.
