This pony topic is pretty quiet compared to the others I've seen.

Still waiting for 19 - x of Past Sins.

“Why, personal experience of course,” Rarity said with a toss of her head. “Remember when I made you your gala dress? I was so absolutely certain you’d all love the first dresses I made, but... well, you recall how that turned out.”

Applejack laughed a little. “Yeah... still can’t figure why I thought galoshes would go with a gala dress.”

“You’re a practical pony, Applejack, so you consider function over form. You thought it might rain, so you wanted to be prepared.” Rarity reassured with a gentle smile before turning her gaze back to Luna.
It's parts like this in a story that kind of bug me, I just couldn't see me or anybody I know talking in a way like this in an actual conversation.

I've talked like that before. Of course, the entire point of the conversation was sort of a mock-therapy session, so it was expected. A better way to have written Rarity's last line would have probably been: "Umm...maybe you thought it might rain?" Somewhat more realistic. In my opinion, anyway.

Not trying to nitpick or complain, but I found a little error that made me smile:

“You planned a party for her?” Luna asked incredulously.

Pinkie Pie nodded. “You bet, Dashie;

They're not having an actual conversation. I'm seeing it more as Rarity being very stressed, and not really chatting.

So I just finished Past Sins.

I'm amazed at how great it was, truly a diamond among fanfics, and slightly depressed that this is the end... For now.

This is probably obvious, but has anybody else noticed that the episode Swarm of the Century seems to be based loosely on the Star Trek episode The Trouble With Tribbles?

I've not seen Star Trek, nor that episode.

I've not seen Star Trek, nor that episode.

Its pretty famous, even among people who don't watch Star Trek

Essentially, it involves small, cute, extremely quickly reproducing creatures that almost overrun a space colony.

This same plot was used in the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episode "The Trouble with Scribbles", which was written by Lauren Faust.

As well as a bunch of other literary references.

Isn't the little "brrwee!" sound effect the parasprites make DIRECTLY ripped from tribbles? I seem to recall hearing that.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Trouble With Tribbles came first.
D'uh I'm fully aware of that! XD did that need to be pointed out?

Star Trek = 1966 - 1969

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was only a few years ago. That's a 40 year gap!

I linked the wiki point to illustrate the indirect link between MLP and Star Trek via Fosters episode written by Lauren Faust, seeing as she didn't attempt to hide the name of the critters much in the Fosters version.

"Tribbles" => "Scribbles" => "Parasprites."

Kind of thought people would pick up on that, seeing as there's a time gap of so many years.
