starvation question

i have been looking through the tags and can't find it,  how do i mod so that dwarves cant starve to death or takes a lot longer to do so?

Add [NO_EAT] and [NO_DRINK] to their entry in creature_standard.txt. You'll probably have to gen a new world for it to work.

i wanna save one dwarf from starvation and i don't wanna start a new world i have a nice fortress as is.  hmmm thanks for the help

where would i add that?

Anywhere between the [CREATURE:DWARF] line and the next [CREATURE:] line will work. If you put it under one of the CASTE entries, though, it'll probably just affect that caste.

I've not heard whether or not [NO_EAT] works after embark, but if it does, you'll surely need to edit the appropriate file in the save, not the main raws.

NO_EAT, NO_DRINK, and NO_SLEEP all work after embark.
