What's the oldest world you've made?

I'm a huge fan of very old worlds, with a staggering amount of history, but I can never seem to get past about 3000-3500 years before the game crashes. I'm wondering if anyone's got further than that?

Somebody tried to gen incredibly old worlds and had them crash in the 10,000-100,000 year range (I forget where).

How far can you gen with a pocket world?

I've heard that old worlds cause crashes, but I've never tried one older than the default.

I've... actually never tried genning a pocket world before. I always gen enormous worlds. That may be part of my problem. I just love the massive mountain ranges and oceans and thousands of tiny islands.

I'm watching a worldgen right now (large size) and it's almost to the 2000 mark. I think I set it for 3000, so we'll see how it goes. I just really would love a 20,000 year old world one day.

Pocket worlds are about 1/250 the size (read: data) of large worlds, and they gen lightning-fast.

Genning pocket region, end year set to 1 million.

It isn't lagging my computer, which is notable, because large regions lock it up for the half-hour it takes to gen one.

Genning history at about 25 years per second.

Edit the end year in /init/world_gen.txt.

Passed year 10000, down to about 10 years/second.

The fact you've passed 10,000 is spectacular to me! I'm still genning this very large world, and it's to year 3410.

hit the 20 000 year mark , pocket region , vanilla

y/s is somewhat arround 15 , wondering if I should let it run for the night or not...   
just to have a world gen history that would take a lifetime to read.

[EDIT] If you wish I could try to run a world for you but you'll need to give me your version of your game
(so you have a world that you actually want to play)

I've tried to have things run overnight but they kind of just give up the ghost after a bit. (Not Responding) has become a staple of my worldbuild-addict existence. :<

hmmm yea I can believe that , slowly but surely it is slowing down.

Whenever I'm getting a steady income I'l try to make me a desktop just for DF XD.
would love to see how it is to play on an overclocked 4.5+ Ghz dual core comp. Or single core if I find a good motherboard/cpu combo.
Depends on what I can get.
