Damn. Am I the only person who was personally introduced to it?

I was, then my friend buggered off to play Minecraft. On the bright side, I have never been called 'a casual' after I told the rest of them that I play it. Now they just call me a neckbeard,

A former friend told me about it years ago, then I finally decided to try it out after reading Boatmurdered and Headshoots. My computer can't even handle the damn thing but it's too much fucking fun.

I don't really remember.  It was long before I started playing.  I likely heard about it from some forum post describing an insanely complex game with no real graphics that makes today's "hardcore" gamers cry like a bunch of little babies.

Of course, I was intrigued.  I tried it, saw that the "wagon" was considered a building so I proceeded to build a wall around it.  Then I managed to flood my mines (which I now realize my miners were digging soil, not rock) and there was a cat wondering around and I didn't know what to do with it.

I gave up for a while, then dived back in later.  I now cite this as one of the greatest games ever made.

I was reading rock paper shotgun's story "the song of onionbog" when I heard about it.

I saw a thread about on the Order of the Stick forums. I thought the name sounded interesting, but the ASCII and the learning cliff meant it took me a while before I actually tried to seriously play it.

Anyway, somebody there linked to the story of Boatmurdered. I didn't really think much of it, so I bookmarked it and figured I'd read it later when I had nothing better to do, which I did.... And I was absolutely blown away. Boatmurdered it was finally convinced me to learn to play.

I read about it on  4chan's /v/ a guy there told a story about someone trying to set up a semi indoor pen for mermaid catching so he could use farm their bones. That caught my attention!

Someone mentioned it offhand when I was bitching about wanting a new Dungeon Keeper game and how a pain in the ass it is to install and run the old ones on modern systems.

I was not disappoint (sic).

I heard about it from some dude, then looked into it about 1 year later. (though considering that was the time between 40d and DF 2010, it didn't really matter that I waited that long).

I heard about it a few years ago on the Adom forums.

After that, I think I downloaded it and my PC was too shitty to run it.

No... Was it a youtube video?... Or was it a youtube video, THEN bay12?... Or was it those nerf now(!) comics?... I think I "discovered it several times, deleting it and redownloading it several times until armok came down and bitchslapped me in to learning it. Still can barely make a tiny dwarf infested cave, but adventurer mode is hella awesome. Especially with mods.

Tales of the Rampant Coyote blog. After reading about it there, I downloaded newest 31.03, and didn't touch it. After half a year, I think I read about it on that blog again, and decided to give it a go. I read tutorials for a week, and then downloaded LNP 31.16 I'm still barely cometent in this game. As a side note, I found out about Goblin Camp on this forum.
Coincidentally Rampant talks Coyote about DF in todays post: http://rampantgames.com/blog/
