HD5970 and such.
« on: January 06, 2011, 07:31:19 pm »

So, there are like a bazillion builders of HD5970s. Sapphire, XFX, Club 3D, Gigabyte etc. come to mind.
Is there any actual difference between them?

Usually its company branding for distribution but usually they'll tweak the card like XFX overclocks some of their cards and Sapphire uses slower memory for cheaper prices.

Fun fact: with a simple hack and a good cooling solution, an HD6950 can become an HD6970 due to laziness at AMD! May be something to consider.

For my Radeon I bought a PowerColor but that was mostly due to a supply shortage, although they did also provide an extra game with it. Go for whatever sounds best at the time with all with prices to settings comparison.
