Also there's an awesome mod where each system is a single planet (HUGE!) and you dock to various stations, moons and asteroids.
That sounds much more to scale than the original Freelancer.
But I quite like free flying around large solar systems. Tee hee.

That said, I'm going to restart my server, and stick a password on it so it can contact the masterserver.
I'd like to take some recomendations on how the server should be setup though. If my connection can handle more than four people online at once, I'm inclined to try and run a partially serious RP server.
For now it's just gunna be a testing server though.

We have a server?
Also, if connection is needed, mine can handle serverwork quita nicely, I have a pretty fat upload.

Check the first post, I posted the password to my server.
It's running Discovery 4.85.. Probably should mention that.

And. I don't even know what your upload speed is and I'm already getting jelous.

Installing at the speed of light.

Also, just as an aside, I'm getting 403 errors for all of the Discovery Freelancer sites.

Huh. The version I already had was being all WRONG VERSION, BUCKO for the official servers.

Also, you might need to give us the IP. Unless the global server suddenly started working for everyone. It''s been a long while since I played.

Well, I'd rather give you my Domain rather than IP. (It does work, you just have to put it in speechmarks rather than strait in.)

Buuut, if you're getting a wrong version message, try running DSUpdate.exe from the Freelancer\EXE\ folder.

Release/Update 3 is available for individual download.. I'm guessing that's if DSupdate doesn't work. I'm not entirely sure how this works, but I think you need to be able to connect to the official servers in order to connect to mine.

Also, is my server visible on the servers list? (Lets not post my -actual- IP on a forum where any old anon person or robot can see it. :P)

Can see the seven or eight servers, but not yours.

Whooopsie!
Turns out I'd forgotten to do a tiny bit of configuration at the router. As I always do.
That is now done however.

As for entering the password (If my server shows up now.)..
Make sure that you type it in then click "OK" rather than press enter. I think if you press enter it thinks that the enter button is also a letter in the password, and so fails the passcheck.
Or at least, that's what's happening to me.

It's okay, Fayrick, dont post it. Doesnt matter that anyone who looks at your serverin lobby or connects to it can instantly see your IP, so better post a domain name, it's harder to get your real IP that way, it takes a whooping  one console command!

Yeah, but I can later de-register the domain, which is easier than changing the IP.
Not that I want to do either, I'm just paranoid.

And yes, you will be able to see my IP. And you'll know that it's in the 213.160.*.* bracket.
But it should be showing up on the servers list now anyway.
...
Actually, it just occured to me that actually, since I'm running multiple sub-domains, connecting to the external IP does nothing, but if I give you my domain you can connect to my website. Ironically, giving you my IP is more secure!
But anyways, I shouldn't need to post it at all.

Still can't see it, no matter what I've so far tried.

So, yeah.

Okay then, I'll probably bump this up to the first post too.
DirectIP to <redacted>. Standard port.
