X is assumed to have destroyed an oil truck with uranium 235 rounds and size 12 footprints leading off into the desert, towards the airport.
Judge distances from highway to airport, maybe hitchhiked. Have a fed sort through camera footage from the airport. Find out what kind of weapon those uranium rounds were from.
Supposedly he was born in Nebraska. He went to college and then went to Vietnam. After returning he went to a University and got PhD's in Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry and Computer Science. After working for IBM and various research labs, he went to Iraq and was reported missing or killed.
Find out which research labs he worked for. Which projects. Who he worked with. Review his school records, any and all documentation from his college and army life. If he went to nam' that makes him at least 60, though. This means records may be gone.
He went MIA in Iraq. Then, somehow a rash of crimes in NY were attributed to him. What were these crimes and what indicated that our man was the criminal?
One is a man who went to a tech college and got degrees in math, applied physics, and applied chemistry. He has been sent to Iraq and has been reported missing. He was a valuable soldier in unit 2834. No more information currently.

The original suspect is a former worker of the IT industry at IBM. He was skilled with computer science, atomic physics, and firearms until he was reported missing 2 years ago. Before disappearing he changed his name to "Nowan Ilfideme", or, in normal text, "No One Will Find Me". No more info.
Two years ago he changed his name to this nobody finds me crap, but there's a birth certificate circulating that's the same. This means that there are probably two of these assholes out there somewhere. What was his name post-change, since we know where he worked and what his skills were?
A drill sergeant at the base of the escape was reported for suspicious activity. He was in the squad sent to seal the breach of the escape and was reported to be blown apart by the FLY-type RPG of the escapee. However tracks of his shoes were found. No more intel currently.
Size 12 standard issue shoes. So what size is our perp's footwear? What kind of suspicious activity was Sgt. Nameless doing?
"So how much more of this stuff is there to go?" Warren asked, looking up from his work and over the table to his assistant, who was similarly hunched over a computer. "Couple' dozen' emails, a few weird messages, and a pile of paper." Ruth replied. "Lots of stuff to sort through."
Warren punched the "save" key and closed his laptop, standing up. "I guess we're going to be at it for a while, huh. Where's the coffee?" Ruth looked up from her computer, and said "It's in the shelf. Make me a cup too, would you?"
"Sure."
Ruth looked back down at her screen and blinked. "So, have you noticed something about all the information we have?" Warren located the instant coffee can and put a kettle on the stove. "Yep. It's all weird, loosely connected facts and histories so far. Details are nonexistent...I think we're getting a censored, blacked out version of this stuff cos' the Feds don't trust us. We're new. Fresh. The other guys out there the CIA's contracted are all mercenaries and hired killers and stuff. We're the odd ones out."
"No, Warren. The weird one is the dog handler. Everyone's getting the same stuff."
"No shit? They hired a dog handler?"
"Uh-huh. And a ninja."
"Now you're just bullshitting me."
