Take on fortress defense mod without danger room and see if it's fun. When you are at it, might as well do it with IM for occasional frustrating losses as well. I specifically designed it to pit against all-exploits-ok players  :o

Prepacked Dwarf Fortress with Intensifying mod v.0.23, Phoebus graphics set, DFhack, Dwarf Therapist, Runesmith and a specialized custom worldgen param.

Watch out for the killer deer packs tough... that's the reason I stopped playing that mod >.>

Cant you pick a better time to mention that? I'm in the process of adding armor-piercing horns to the minotaur race <.<

Did you embark in an area where you had no goblin civilization near you, or are you just lucky enough to not get any sieges?

For every minos. I'm also doing some changes to other megabeasts as well, hopefully this'd give them a little more distinctive characteristics and require different strategies to beat. I havent got to try them against a well defended fort but the gist is basically like this:
