I have managed to use the mercury capsule with just 2 'nauts (after killing the rest of my starting 7), one as primary, one as backup...

What are the requirements before you can do the mercury missions in this game?  If I assign three or four astronauts to the mercury program and put them into flight crews it still tells me that I don't have enough flight crews.  What up with that?

Try waiting a turn then doing a mission. They are considered in training for that program for the turn that you assign them.

This time I think Ill use the windows version of the game. (As far as I know there arent any differences, besides that its windows instead of dos.)

Ah, the game could have made that a bit more clear.

edit: strangely enough, this requirement doesn't exist in the windows version of the game.

Yeah some of this game is not clear! Takes some getting used to :D I think it is on the windows one too, but only on historical model mode. Ill have a look see when I start!

*If you have anymore questions just ask, I'm pretty good at this now :D One thing still eludes me, I'm unsure what the soviet docking technique is. (I have never seen a soviet docking module) It may be different equipment such as the Kicker-C on Soyuz is a dual booster/docking module to the LEM.

If this is the case, that means only a direct ascent or something will be possible (landing the whole space craft) On any ship but the Soyuz.

I think the Soviet AI tends to prefer the direct ascent.

Yeah the Soyuz seems to be designed for it, and the soviets have a special mission called something like 'Soyuz direct ascent'. I'm torn as to whether to aim for Soyuz descent or try for a Vokshod landing. Hmm.

How do you get a docking module into space so that you can dock with it?

Either do unmanned docking mission after purchasing docking module (from misc) or a manned docking mission.

Yes. Someone clever needs to mod the hell out of this game so we're using more modern tech and going to MARS

I wish ;) I think people have all but forgotten about BARIS! But maybe I could make a forum game sometime!
I'm currently working on a small scale astronaut game inspired by BARIS, might give me some ideas for such a game.  8)

I'd just like to ask a question.  I downloaded this game after seeing this thread, and it looks like a great little "business" sim.  But for some reason, after I've assigned a mission, the "Assemble Vehicle" system goes schizophrenic.  Sometimes my satellites and capsules can be selected, sometimes they can't.  When I assign the mission, sometimes preexisting payloads just won't be there to be assigned, but the next turn, they can be, with no action on my part to change anything.  What's that about?
